Does anyone have an archived version of DVD Catalyst version 3? I purchased v3 a copy way back but mistakenly saved the v1 trial version to my Evernote archive at the time. There was no serial/reg number for v3, Mitch sent buyers a link to download the full version as an encrypted zip along with the password for the zip. I have the zip password but of course, the download link no longer works as the servers are long gone as has the DVD Catalyst website. The SCL repository only has version 4 and we can no longer purchase a licence.

I just need that zipped archive of DC v3 if anyone has it in their PDA cave (I’m assuming the zip password was the same for all customers).

There’s much better ways to watch video on the go these days but where’s the fun it that!

Are there any that we're allowed to host? If so, can you PM me as well?

Nope, I only have the retail versions, no trials. You'd have to ask Mitch for permission to release them.

For the benefit of anyone finding this thread because they were searching for the excellent DVD Catalyst only to find it’s no longer trading, I point them to this thread by @frisser …

https://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=20434&start=1

…which gives you settings to use the freeware Handbrake app to convert video files and DVDs to run on a Jornada 720. It worked great for me.

God, I love DVD Catalyst. What a program. Mitch once helped get me 1"x1" films on my Nokia 9300--you can see that Nokia work in the drop-down choices. Wish he'd stop by now and then. Right up there with RTFM, whom we don't see enough of, either.

I was able to locate a trial version of v4 as well as a trial/free version of the converter tool

https://web.archive.org/web/20120505073413/http://www.tools4movies.com/dc4.0tr.zip
https://web.archive.org/web/20170506220249*/http://www.tools4movies.com/free/t4m_mkvshrink-free-install.exe

(I know C:Amie/Jake/nicmalone resolved the post original question - I just wanted to follow up what I found)

@torch Well done. I'd forgotten there was a free version, but I've also forgotten the differences b/w free and retail Catalyst.

There was a 7-day trial of DC, then there was DC GT, but I don't think that it had the H/PC optimisation and benchmark setting.
