I'm planning to sell a special WiFi card for MobilePro 900(C), Jornada 710/720/728, and other H/PCs. See the pictures below to understand what makes it special!

This card has a removable planar antenna part, but I'll add an additional wire antenna to make it look and work like a built-in WiFi card. This means you can use either the planar antenna or wire antenna. My feeling is people will use the wire antenna in most cases---That is the objective I'm striving to achieve.

Another special feature of the card is it's 2.5mm shorter than the shortest card I have ever known. So, with the wire antenna installed, the protrusion from MP900(C) is ONLY 2mm that is less than half of the connector size (4.5mm). I believe other cards with external antenna(s) will have at least 4.5mm protrusion and it would be impractical to leave the antenna there during daily use and carrying.

I was able to insert part of the wire antenna into an empty area inside MP900C (it's a little bit tight. trimming the plastic edge of the slot should help. You may have a better way if you think really hard.) and use WiFi at a decent distance from the router.

On J720, taping the antenna along the smart card slot is a solution.

The card has very good build quality though it's factory's old stock. The brand is Contec. Contec does provide official drivers for CE 2.11 and 3.0. I used PRISMNDS.dll for CE .NET 4.2.

The all-inclusive price is $30 for US buyers and $35 for others. Lead time is around 3 weeks.

PM me if you are interested. I can also test it on J690 with Donkey and J720 with Mongo and Skeye.pad SL with CE .NET 4.2.

I'd say the signal is pretty decent though weaker than lifting it up. It's comparable with the one with 2 internal antennas I donated to Cmonex. Actually, the picture shows accessing hpcfactor.com using the card with the antenna 'hidden' inside MP900C from the far end of my living room (18' long) while my 1st-generation Belkin router (~6 years old) is at the other end.

I'm uploading 2 more photos to show the best installation method I found for MobilePro 900/900C and J680/690/710/720/728. For Jornada, the antenna goes thru the strap mount. For MobilePro 900(C), I drilled a small hole thru the plastic septum between the PCMCIA slot and the USB port to let the antenna go thru the hole to the USB port area. As you can see, the USB port cover can be closed as usual. Based on my tests on J720 and MP900C, this method makes the WiFi card as powerful as any regular WiFi one in terms of range. That's the internal WiFi I have been striving to achieve.

Drilling the hole is really easy. If you want, I can do it for you at no cost to you, but shipping costs money.

I still stick to the price I set exclusively for members here. Others thru ebay start bid @$22.22 or BIN @$44.44 plus shipping.

Thru soft reset, you can cut the power to the card to save juice. So, internal WiFi makes real sense.

Finally, I settled with a installation method that requires no drilling to make Contec internal-like WiFi on MP900C (2mm protrusion). Here is 2 photos showing the installation and operation. I still have 4 of these cards for sale. I also have 2 modded Speedtouch (Orinoco Gold) with ZERO protrusion from MP900C.

PM me if you are interested.

I have 4 Contec cards with additional wire antenna for 'internal' installation on Ebay.

I also have 2 modded Speedtouch cards that produce NO PROTRUSION on MP900C (theoak is the only guy who got one without competition from my ebay listing)!

Members here get a discounted price: The all-inclusive price is $25 for US buyers and $28 for others.

Well, I have to end the listing because the connector of the wire antenna is not a perfect match. I need to get the perfect match though the current one does work. Stay tuned!
