Welcome to the HPC:Factor Handheld PC Community forums.

Here you can meet with and discuss the Handheld PC with other users, get technical support or just watch the world go by.

We are trying to build an active community that everybody can join in with. Providing a open and friendly experience for all users, no matter their age, gender or level of technical expertise. The best way for that to happen is if all users follow these simple rules outlined below.

Any user that is found to have broken these rules may find their account suspended, privileges removed or be banned from the boards completely. We hope that you will take a few moments to look over these rules and thank-you for your cooperation.

I like it!
Two things I'm less happy about.
The green type color is difficult for my old eyes to read.
The large graphics posted along with some messages make reading messages more clumsy.
apart from that: so much better than using the microsoft news site. focus on CE 1,2 etc is terrific.
I'm glad you all are willing to put the time and energy (and probably a few bucks) into this.
It is appreciated.

Thanks for your comments.

The forums are in a transit at the moment. It was a toss up between getting them scripted and installed and releaseing it and getting it installed, scripted, designed and then releasing it.

We opted to release it asap as neither myself or John Rubier, the web geeks around here - if you will. Have the time at the moment to comit. We felt that it was more important after 15 months of being on0line to get the forums up and out than waiting until that magical moment when we have enough time to make some serious changes to the underlying UI of the site.

Your comments on the green text have also been rasied in internal discussion, as I said in the meetings. The colour's actually an accident of the scripts used to generate the headders on the rest of the site, not intentional. I'll fix it asap.

As for the images. I'm guessing you're referring to the board sigs. Well... you either love them or you hate them. In the realm of web forums of this kind, the signature is king. Within reason I cannot moderate other users ones.
My own one for example, the one with the HPC:Factor logo in it, I standardise accross all my forum registrations around the net. It's actually qite popular.

However, I understand if you find them distracting. All registered users can choose to disable Signatures from the Control Panel link in the top right of the screen.
The option "View other peoples signatures".

With respect to rule #4, Chris, is there a list available on whpcfactor.com that would indicate who the Admin and Moderators are?

Uncle Ben, group.

There are three Super Admins on the board currently. We are the owners of HPC:Factor.

Admins have Final say authority over the board.

You can see the Admin list by going into Statistics in the upper board navigation or clicking here

There currently are no Global moderators or General moderators. We are looking to start changing this after I have completed upgrading the forum core to version 2.2.
The estimate is to start seeking Moderators next month.

Wehn appointed there will potentially be two groups.
Global who can intervene in any issue
Forum level who have autonomy over a section, such as Developer.

Moderators will be accountable to Admins, will have free reign of their teritory but will not speak for HPC:Factor herself in formal matters.
Moderators will be part of the staff and we may expand moderation privilages to include access to the HCL, News Posting, Themes admin and the like.

The specifics of how we will appoint Moderators hasn't been ironed out yet. Any interested parties should be willing to fly the flag of the H/PC and of the site, and ideally have experience of at least two H/PC platforms.
Anyone who wants to know more or show interest please PM an admin

Moderator lists will be published as we go along, and at the top of each thread is a list of specifically assigned Admins / Moderators to that topic.

As this thread is for the site rules, please either use the "The "Forum ideas / Bugs / Request" thread" or create a new thread in Off-Topic if Forum Ideas isn't applicable to your questions.

Dear C: Amie
I really enjoy the rules for hpc factor!
And Especially the no graphic content and the cursing rules
Because if you did not have these rules, many sick people would be posting pornography and etc.

Thanks
