And here's the android recovery file for those who want to install it over ce6 on their vt8505 cpu powered netbooks. You can always reinstall ce6 over it if you dont like it.

Cheers

Holy <expletive deleted>. This site rocks....A Google Android Release!

Though, Google Android looks awsome, but i'll side with NVIDA. It's not for smartbook. Windows CE is still the best OS for Smartbooks because of it's stability.

Edited by CE Geek - please refrain from profanity in these forums. We're a family-friendly site here, and as I recall you're a teenager yourself.

this is great for the 300MHZ, (so far brand unknown?) model 910 - is it compatible for other CPUs as well?
btw what is the CPU brand/model# of the 533MHZ version of the "generic Chinese" 7" netbook? can Android run on it?
(and what is its model name, brand if any? can't find this on eBay ads)
Please give other details also to compare the 300MHZ and the 533MHZ versions of these netbooks?

Thanks for the link Wic^H^H^H ... err ... RTFM

Where can one get the CE 6 recovery for the VT8505, and is R3 available yet?

@ Jacobi, none of the Chinese CE Netbooks on eBay seem to be branded; I asked about them all.

Hey, mods - could we have a "Chinese CE Netbook" entry in the Your Handheld section please?

I got one of the preloaded android netbooks to replace my noisy tiny book i recently sold, & I'm liking it alot

This the one, but purchased from ebay. http://www.wirelession.com/products_view.asp?cid=135&id=150

opera mini 4.2 can open you-tube videos from the mobile site, not sure what its doing though to play them?

I found a market app that has alot of software and runs about everything, it runs things fairly well, but you can tell its more of an early beta

Definitely could use better hardware drivers & more adaption to a non keyboard device, but you can control most things from the keyboard itself.

You can download things directly to the unit and the .apk (exe) install just by clicking on it.

I did install windows ce on it just to see if i could, got the Chinese safe mode version, Android apparently reformats the nand in ext im guessing so windows ce doesn't see it so it can't load the rest of the programs and such, So its a one way deal unless someone modifies the ce image to see the android formatted nand etc.

I then went back to android by downloading a image, & back to normal.

"Generic" means there is no brand name.

My Chinese minibook is CE6, 533 mhz, the system reports the processor type is "SIRF, ARM1136JF-S-AT840" and BSP Version "AIVCE6EVB_REL1.00.5.08".

I'd love to try running some flavor of Linux or droid if I could do it with a CD-executable bootloader, without killing CE (like Jlime on a Jornada).

Looks like I have the same unit. If you get info on the recovery disk and also release 3 could you keep me in the loop. Also mine came with a Youtube search app v1.6. The app seraches Youtube and returns a list of hits. When you selct one of the hits it opens TCPMP to play the link but gets an error stating link is not found. Do you have this app and same issue?
