So I recently got an Hitachi EPlate HPW 600ET, however I've had issues finding SH4 apps, all I ever find are SH3 and MIPS and ARM apps. Does anyone know any good Sh4 apps?

A few things to know that will broaden your search:

1) Most SH3 apps written for CE 1.0 will work. (SH3 apps written for CE 2.0 and later won't, though.) See this thread for some info on this:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=13677

2) Most apps written in Visual Basic (with the file extension .vb, which is not processor-specific), including many written for CE 3.0, will work if you install the eMbedded Visual Basic runtime files:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/developer/

3) There is a build available now for the .NET Compact Framework 1.0 SP3 for CE 2.xx devices, which includes an SH4 version. This will allow you to run Pocket PC apps that were written for .NET CF 1.0 to work on the ePlate. See this thread for details:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12404&po...

A few developers wrote SH4 versions of their apps, including Ilium Software, whose H/PC Pro apps are available free for HPC:Factor members:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/ilium/

Search the threads here in the H/PC Pro forum using the keywords "HPW-600," "ePlate," and "Compaq Aero 8000" for other threads about SH4 devices. You'll find more ideas there. Note, though, that many developer sites for these old programs may now be closed, so you may have to search for them in archive.org. For example:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070210223624/http://tillanosoft.com/ce...

The download links there still work. (Some don't because the download pages haven't been archived.)

Wayback machine is wonderful...also you can download some programs directly from their library archive. For instance they have Primer 2.3 from the Tucows library there for HPCs and there is an SH4 HPC version of it which will allow you to view PDF files...

Just do a software search for HPC and see what pops up. Should be a few SH4 applications there anyways...

The ones I used the most with my Aero were TextMaker 2002, CE Agenda, and that pdf reader program whose name I can't remember right now....

There are others as well. I saved them in case I ever get another sh4 device; I'll take a look and see what else is there.

Remembered it: Ansyr Primer. Great pdf reader.
