| I have Windows 8 installed, and was wanting to test compatibility with various components with Handheld PCs.. Mainly, I was wanting to test the Terminal Services client with Windows 8. I have HPC2000 and CE6.0 devices to try this.
I can, however confirm that Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 installs and runs fine. Though I cannot try syncing as I do not have a Handheld PC capable of USB sync--though I wonder if Bluetooth would work if I got an adapter for my MP790?!!?!?! My Pocket PC for Windows Mobile 6.1 I cannot test either because I do not have my USB cable for it..
In addition, please let me know what other things we should test out---even in a general way. |

| Oh my god! I got my NEC MobilePro 790 syncing over IrDA with Windows Mobile Device Center! File management works and the install programs wizard shows up!

| I'm still stuck on XP! Not budging either. It's nice to know these can still play nice with 8.

| It will play nice, but there no longer full PIM sync support. 6.1 fixed issues with HPC2000 connectivity. |

| Yep, infrared works well with 900C as well as older devices. |

| Well, I've been playing some more with syncing PIM data. Maybe this is nothing new to some of you, but I've used WMDC on both Win7 and Win8 now. I can fully synch my email, contacts, to-do lists, and files using WMDC with infrared to my 900C.
Also, using Syncexpress 4 from here: http://www.syncdata.it/syncexpress.html I can sync my Windows Mail, contacts, and calendar data from Win 8 with my 900c, but Syncexpress 4 requires addings some ppc dlls and hacking the .exes to change cpu type of CE version, etc.
I always liked Syncexpress v1 for the ability to use it with Outlook Express since I didn't use Outlook in those days...
Torch, what type of IRDA device are you using with your desktop? I'm using an Actisys IR-2000UL USB adapter. But when I tried using a generic cheapo USB adapter, I was unable to sync...maybe a difference in the drivers...but was curious what you are using... |

| That's interesting Rich, it would never do with with WMDC 6.0 and Office 2007 for me into POOM (under CE3), perhaps they fixed more in 6.1 that I have given them credit for? |

| This is between office 2007 and 8? Next you'll tell me that it will work between CE 3 and office 2010 x64. |

| Didn't try...unistalled it and am just using 2007 as I only need one of them, and 2007 is the newer of them..
Update: Just got curious, installed Office XP. Must use the same database as 2007, because when I synched the data, it transferred over the entries I made with Office XP as well as updates I made with Office 2007. They must share the same database, because when I opened up Outlook 2007, I could see the entries I made with Office XP.
Anyways, it synced with both just fine.
Then I tried a MP780. No connection....awwww... |
