This thread is open to ask the question: Where did they go? If you have any information on how to find them, be sure to post it here.

I'll start....

Palmix ITIL used to make a lot of cool HPC software...you can still see their site on the Wayback Machine here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20030205194628/http://www.palmix.itil.co...

Anyone had any idea who the software authors were or where we can find them now...maybe we can get permission to release their software into the public domain...

This is a formal request for help from us to your guys and gals to help us track down developers of old. If you have any information or better yet want to try your hand at some detective work and try to make contact on behalf of the community, please by all means do so!

Our intention is simple, we want to talk to them about Exemptionwaring their legacy software http://www.hpcfactor.com/downloads/exemptionware/ so if you can help us and we are successful, we can all benefit!

If it is to happen we need your help though

Grand, let's hope they don't think you're a crazy person (like we do).

If there is a place called American Fork, where are American Knife and American Spoon?

Look for a spoon in the road, or a knife in the road, and you'll find a clue . . .

Hi everyone! I’m working on tracking down some astonomy software for the SCL. I need some help tracking down the programmer/owner of an old piece of software that was released in 1997. The program is called AstroHTML and it was released by a company called SanSoft. The company also released software for Newtons and Palms. That company may or may not be associated with the web site www.pdantic.com which seems to have a lot of press releases rewritten by someone named Steve S.

The program is basically an astronomy reference and star chart program written in HTML for Windows CE 1.0. As it was written in HTML it is easily modified to run on Windows CE 2.0 and 2.11 (which is what I did a number of years ago to run it on a MobilePro 700 and 780).

Has anyone heard of the program/company or know the name of the programmer? I’ve tried the sales contact at the web site but received a bounceback.

You can have a look at the Feb. 18, 1998 version of the web site through the Internet Archive:

http://web.archive.org/web/19980214135524/http://pdantic.com/

FYI – some of the links still work and might yet supply a wealth of programs and knowledge.

Any help tracking this down would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

Richard! Not to dredge an old thread but I found his contact information and we’ve been messaging back and forth. I’m going to have him look for AstroHTML and any other programs and also mentioned the exemptionware license. I will keep you updated.

He found it. He gave HPC:Factor permission to repost it. I’ll upload it as soon as I receive the file
Edit 31 Oct 22: Success!
Now in the SCL
