The optimized startup feature sounds interesting. The question, though, is how many OEMs will pick it up. Note the incredible dearth of Windows Embedded Compact 7 devices that hit the market.

Nonetheless, important news for us here. I'm adding it to the News section.

Wouldn't it be easier to simply take an existing hardware, that's probably running Android, and then build a WEC image and buy licenses from MS? Or am I simply dreaming, like even that would be too hard to do?

No..you are absolutely correct Takwu. The only possiblity would be to find one of those Android tablets or netbooks and flash an image to it. That is considering there were some hardware savy enough and software savy enough to do it...

And even then you would still have to find the proper hardware drivers for things like the touchscreen and wifi and such to have included into the image build...
