Hi Psifi,

It's simple.
Go back to the website where they have the Japanese instructions. By using google translate, you can actually make out which are the three boxes representing "appli", copy the three boxes (from the Japanese instructions) and you have the words in clipboard memory.
When you create the folder, just paste it from clipboard. Once inside the Brain device, it can automatically recognise the boxes as the true Japanese Kana.

Wowed, congrats.

Have fun.
You can do the same with many other programs.I have success with List pro, Calce98, Declock, Tetris, FileManCE2, all by directly copying and renaming all their exe files like what you do to ceopener.

Hmm, you haven't tried that copy-n-rename with TextMaker, have you? I can't tell whether it's an Arm processor, tho there were MIPS and other processor versions of TM in days of yore.

Took some time off from my work to play with the Sharp Brain.
As instructed by the links on the Web about hacking the Brain, I copied the entahoma.ttf and jptahoma.ttf to the fonts folder in \storage card\appli\taskswitcher\fonts folder.

Did the usual reboot and click the ceOpener link, and voila, I have the Windows OS loaded up, complete with windows startup sounds, etc.

Refer to the pics attached, you can see the Windows UI having only two icons, My Device and Control Panel. (In Japanese)

Click and hold anywhere on the screen, and a menu pops up with three options: Arrange Icons, Create Shortcut, and Customise Desktop.
Customise Desktop allows adding two more icons; the Storage Card and Nand Memory drive.

Once ceOpener loads up, the Sharp Simulator tab(which is the Default dictionary overlay) is visible on the task bar, clicking it brings you back to the "appli" list of applications.

With the dictionary contents and ceOpener loaded up, Test-Ce displays the memory usage of 45Mb out of 55Mb, leaving very little free ram for programs.

I click on the start button, the start menu displays Japanese command in this order:
1. My Device
2. CONTROL panel
3. Run..
4. Programs ( in application list)
5. Plug in ->input switch settings/shortcut keys/Opener shot settings/power options
6. Settings ->Control Panel/Task bar.
7. Shutdown Brain dictionary contents
8, exit ceOpener

Clicking on item 7, essentially unloads the Sharp dictionary simulator, and a check with Test-Ce, reveals that ram usage drops to around 18Mb.

I tried running a couple of games found in the Miopocket folders (most of them PPC games, using half of the screen 240 x 320 dots.)
Other successful trials include Spread, ListPro, CE Thesaurus, MDICT, Mobipocket, and other ARM games.

TCPMP loads with some jitter
UltraG and ImageVue, GQVIEWER all load up successfully.

Tried to run Yamace (for Game boy roms)but it asked for GXOpenDisplay.

Here are some of the screenshots:

Amazing that it can do color on AA's and for so long. Thank you for the follow-up. Please post back with any new program. Think you might be able to try TextMaker?

ResInfo, CE Thesaurus, I feel young again.

You need the POOM DLLs, plus the Calendar and Tasks databases, for that to run:

And, of course, you'd need to restore these every time you reboot the device.

TextMaker is a single file, so it might be easily renamed, but TM demands some significant memory.

At any rate, thanks, as always, for your continued follow-ups.

Thanks a lot CE geek.
