Hi. I've translated the first main page of the Brain - Miopocket Wiki.

I've uploaded it to my server at http://www.superai.online/sharp-brain-miopocket

There are two files, original .rtf file and PDF file. Please download it according to your preference.

Thank you very much, Stingraze.

Will get to tinker with this and post again to share what we can do with the Sharp Brain.

I've been looking at these other cool-looking Brains:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SHARP-Electronic-Dictionary-Brain-PW-SB2-A-...

I searched for custom ROMs but didn't find any. Very intriguing form factor...

Hi, Stingraze and Guys, I got my Sharp Brain PW-A7000 dictionary, followed the instructions to install Miopocket and Task Switcher and CEOpener into a microsd card. Used the instructions to go to the Applications menu, click and run ceopener, to run windows CEO base.
After running windows , I found I haven't install the jptahoma.tyc/rtf font for patching, hence the boxes in place of normal words.
Will install the font next time and come back again with the English UI.

Will post some pictures next time.
For Jake's knowledge, I can run PWord on this Brain thing,it is a word processor like what you get in those normal HPCs.
I can also run SpreadCE, an Excel equivalent spreadsheet program.
Other programs that are included in the Miopocket can be executed by directly clicking on the exe file.
And yes, despite not being able to get Miopocket itself running, and getting that Miopocket desktop, I could get all the programs (provided in the Miopocket package) to run in English, because those files were using the 0409 ui. So much for today, till I get the font patched and startup Windows in English. Anyway, once inside the explorer, everything is in English.

Many thanks to Stingraze for his help to translate the Japanese instructions. Be getting back to you guys later.

Wow, thank you for an update, and a positive one at that.

When you say that pword runs, which version? 3.0? Are you able to save in .doc? (I wonder if TextMaker might install...)

This is so cool. Keep us posted with as many discoveries as you have time to write.

To psifi,
I have finally got the Miopocket up and running on my Sharp Brain pw-a7000.
You need to download Miopocket for Brain from www.gpspassion.com

I tried the latest version, but it took quite a while to run Miopocket 4.0 release 68 (the latest release), and things were slow to respond maybe due to the sharp's slow cpu, or maybe due to its usage of only two AA cells.
So I tried downloading an earlier release, Miopocket v2.0 release 39, the earliest one I could find. Only this link and the latest link works, all other releases were dead.

After unzipping the downloaded file (do it on a PC, it extracts to about 160 Mb plus).
Copy the entire MioAutoRun folder to root of sdcard, copy MioAutoRun.exe and Mioautorun.mscr also to the root of sdcard.
Create an application folder (three Japanese characters, literally read "appli", and copy Tasks wither and ceOpener folders to this folder.
Insert sdcard into Sharp Brain device, press reset button (UNDERNEATH) and wait for it to reload.

When the Dictionary interface load up, click on the "Adding New Applications" (4th icon on the second row), you will be presented with two items taskswitcher and ceOpener.
Click on taskswitcher, to find a minibar at the bottom left corner.
Click on My Device to open the windows Explorer. (If the minibar hides itself, you can click on the CLEAR key, maybe twice, to reveal it)
Once inside Explorer, go to sdcard and click on MioAutoRun.

The Mio installation will start.
When asked where to install Mio launch files, select NAND4.
Then press reset again.

When the device reloads again, go to windows Explorer, using the steps outlined above, and find LAUNCH.exe in NAND4.
Click on it to run Miopocket and you are DONE.

Once loaded, the Miopocket displays most of the icons for the programs inside the programs folder, but not every program load up. Some have to be executed from the windows Explorer.
Still do not know why some icons on Miopocket UI didn't work, have to tinker a bit.
TCPMP does run, but videos are jittery. May have some fine tuning work to do.

For Jake's knowledge, PWORD loads up and you can save files in PWD and TXT and RTF formats.

Fantastic. Thank you for taking the time to write so extensively and put up those groovy pictures. The array of available programs is impressive and the screen looks very crisp. Re: videos--too bad Mitch retired DVDCatalyst; I imagine he could've figured out some low resource specs for movies.

Odd that PWord can't save in *.doc. The developer must've used some form of CE 2.0 PWord.

Looks like a ton of fun to play with.

Ah, I went over the screenshots of your icons and saw that the wp is WordPad. Now I understand the absence of *.doc saves.

The custom os is static, correct? You can't actually install user programs, can you?

Hi Jake,
You are right about the static os.

Will post again if I find something new.
