Hope you can post some pics from the Caribbean - I'm still dreaming of going there.

Congratulations, Y. Please go work for Amtrak; they could use your field.

Congratulations Welcome to the M.Sc. club.

Are you going to make me fill in a work place evaluation form and force me to buy Rich and CE Geek high vis. jackets?

It never ends Scott, after your Masters you then start working towards your doctorate...or obtaining a second Masters...

I'll have to get moving, then, Rich. It's been 30 years since I got my master's degree, and I haven't been back to college since.

Yeah, I got my Master's circa CE Geek and never looked back. Man, I hated graduate school. All those professors whining about busy they were when I was working two jobs, going full-time, and fighting my way to their measly office hours. One prof actually had one office hour a week and he blew that off, sometimes.

My wife went to Columbia for grad school in Art History, top-ranked and she hated every minute of it. One prof said to her, "I don't keep regular office hours but you can walk me to my car."

Geez,
Jake

I was hoping to go on to earn a doctorate in clinical psychology, but the programs are very competitive - something like one out of every 15 applicants accepted to a program accredited by the American Psychological Association. The only thing I had going for me was a GRE score of 1420. I was a B student with no research or clinical experience. In other words, I had potential but no discipline. Not much has changed in the 30 years since.

Congratulations, Yoldering! I hope you enjoy the vacation.

What a highly educated bunch in here. I did my doctorate in History -- and even found a job afterward! The workload was absolutely miserable, but the professors were dedicated and helpful. If my experience is any indication, you're probably wondering what to do with yourself right now, Yoldering.... It takes a while to get used to not being stressed and under pressure every day.

Don't worry though. You'll find some way to screw up your newfound freedom

C:Amie, the only PPE CE Geek and Rich need to worry about is how well their pocket protectors work....

Thanks everyone! We had a blast on our vacation!!! I will post a few photos soon.

HA...I have actually looked into new programs... There is a Master of Engineering program that looks very interesting. I recently accepted a job with another company and was relocated way up in North Texas. I have been here three weeks now (one week of that was a vacation), and I think once everything settles down a bit I may look into it more... The great thing is that the degree has already paid off with a position that will be more rewarding...
