Howdy, my father in law picked up this 10.1 inch 2 in 1 tablet combo last Thanksgiving on Black Friday for pretty cheap (Like $75) as I think now they go for about $180.00 He ended up not liking it and sent it to us to give to my daughter... It arrived yesterday and I started playing around with it. It is a lot sturdier than I would have thought. It is nice to have a detachable keyboard that, when attached functions like a mini laptop... I kinda don't want to give it to my daughter...
Here are the specs:
Technical Specifications:
IntelĀ® Quad Core Atom Processor Z3735G (2M Cache, up to 1.83 GHz)
1GB DDR3L of system memory
Windows tablet has a 10.1" touchscreen, 1280 x 800 resolution
Built-in 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth v4.0
Additional Features:
Windows tablet has a back 2MP webcam and front 0.3MP webcam
microHDMI port, headphone/microphone combo port
32GB onboard storage memory, Micro SD card slot supports up to 64GB Additional
6000mAh internal rechargeable battery
Screen Type: Capacitive Touch Display
Model No.: NXW10QC32G
All in all it is pretty nice for free, even at $180 it is still a deal.

How old is your daughter Scott?

I'm thinking that you should get her an Android device instead, for the following reasons:

Most kids are either familiar with Android or Apple IOS.
Android things are cheap and if broken, no big deal.
You can give her the Windows tablet later when she is older and you don't want it any longer.

but most important....you really want it for yourself...and after all, don't you pay all the bills?

Rich, she is 5... but my wife already claimed the new tablet. My daughter will have to settle for the 7" Lenovo that my wife had...

Whether a five-year-old should go Android or Windows. Boy, the times we live in, huh? When I was five, my mother wouldn't even give me two Dixie cups and a string--she was afraid I'd hang myself (and for good reason too since I was not a successful child).

You've heard the saying, "His parents had to hang a pork chop around his neck to even get the dogs to play with him..." Well that came from my family...so don't feel bad Jake.

Scott, in all likelihood, when she's older she will be using an Android phone...might as well get her used to the OS now...plus there are a ton of free and simple Android games out there...kinda like CE was a decade and a half ago...
