Normally the wire with the white stripes is positive, so it would go to the red wire. Always solder a connection rather than just tape it.

Will do. I pulled apart my 4 aa holder to see that I had done exactly that--attached the female socket to the Radio Shack red/white leads. I have no recollection of doing this...

Success. The various parts and batteries arrived and I put together the pack and yet to blow anything up.

Right now, I'm having to pull the 8 aa's from the pack, put into the 8 aa charger, and back again. In the setup for the M1:

http://www.pocketables.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2415&page=3

the gentleman appears to have found a double female adapter and can plug the pack's output end into one side and the battery charger's output side into the other which charges the pack. I have not found a kit that can do this. Universal NiMh battery chargers seem to have alligator clips and wire harnesses serving as their connectors.

Thanks again for the help, I'm glad to have the battery pack,

Jake

You might see if something like THIS will do what you need.

Rich,

Regarding the double female connector, do you think there's some kind of diode in there, or is it a straight connection?

Rich,

Do you think this would work? With the double-female connector that the other guy used to charge his battery pack?

Yes, too expensive but loved the extra adapter tips. Ended up with this:

and bought this to replace the Tamiya tip:

and I'll connect its female to a male 2.1mm adapter on the 8 AA battery pack.

A confusing time for me, so thanks for your help,
Jake
