Battery finally died after all these years...well, won't take much of a charge anymore anyways. Not bad for an HPC that has been used and plugged in for nearly 15 years.

I remember CEGeek was going to recell his batteries with a Versa battery he bought somewhere...I don't remember where.

So I was thinking that I would use an 18500 Lion battery which would make the battery pack a little thicker on the bottom...no problem really as I could raise the height on the back of the HPC with some little rubber feet as well.

Then I started looking for prismatic cells that could simply use the same case. I found them on eBay for $7 each which means it would be $21 to do. (Samsung Li-ion Battery 103450)

The 18500's are about the same price for three of them rated at 1500mAh.

So CEGeek? How did your battery rebuild work out?

Wish I knew what you're talking about, Rich. I never tried recelling an 800/880 battery pack. The only one I ever did successfully was the pack for the Hitachi ePlate HPW-600ETM, which took narrower cells (14650 or something like that).

Slightly OT, but can we have a CESD article on how to re-cell batteries? My MP900 isn't very mobile (nor professional) when it needs to be plugged in ~80% of the time.

Are you suffering dementia?

I never did complete the recelling, Rich - that's why I didn't post again. I couldn't get it to work.

That is a WONDERFUL write-up, Rich. Battery-less people around the interenet are going to come to your article.
