180mm width, maybe okay for a tiny girl to touchtype on, but a little narrow for a fat fingered boy like me I think. The MP900 is the perfect size for real data entry via a keyboard, but certainly not pocketable like the GPD.

To bad the Atom isn't an ARM compatible processor...it would be fun to flash a CE image to the device...talk about the best pseudo HPC in the world with those hardware specs...

I received my GPD Pocket a few days ago. So far it seems like a great device. However, because of my bad luck, it seems that I got a defective unit. The "t" key is extra sensitive, probably a bad connection on the matrix keyboard. Check the video: https://youtu.be/zlEki6HI7xA. For whoever has a GPD Pocket also, are you having similar problems with your unit?

Man, sorry to hear about that.

Perhaps post there--that seems to be an active forum and it may have users that can confirm your issue.

There is always x86 Windows CE. CE 3.0 through 7.0 should work. (8.0 sucks)

You can also use CE in a VM like VMWare or VirtualBox if you want.

The big problem is booting CE natively because the GPD devices use a UEFI BIOS. There is also the issue of drivers. It still won't be instant on either.

I do not think that there is anything preventing Windows CE in VM being instant-on because this functionality is under pure control of host OS (unlest host OS does not implement it without significant power loss). You can suspend/hibernate with any virtualized OS, you can even save VM state in most virtualizing software to disc.

I'm still checking the Gemini project page regular. It still seems to be heading forward. The december release date is still possible. Can't wait to play with it

Okies boys and girls, Finally found one of the Fujitsu Loox phone with full Windows 7 installed. Was on eBay on a Saturday night/Sunday ending sale. Beginning bid was $249.99. bid on it twice, nobody else bid.
So I get it next Tuesday. once I get it out of the box I'll take some pics and run a few programs on it and let you know how it goes.
So now time to admit my compulsion "Hi, My name is Scott, I suffer from Obsessive Compulsive Windows CE handheld Device Disorder!"'

@ ntware

Sorry for my late reply (been very busy at work the past half year or so...) and that you got one with issue.

My Pocket is perfect. Great little mini-laptop.

Still works great after 8 months...

Hope you got yours taken care of.

Mark

I had one of these when first released some years ago.

Intriguing concept, but poorly executed. Only kept it a few weeks.....

Maybe you'll have better luck...
