Geez, the B.O.S.S. You could say that was my first handheld device, way back in 1989. But mine was a tiny little thing, hardly usable as a word processor. I just used it for PIM data (contacts, appointments, tasks).

Thought it's bigger, the Tandy/Radio Shack WP-2 seems like s similar device. Did anybody ever play with one of those?

Jake

Yes, I remember using a WP-2 (as well as a Tandy 102 and 200). The WP-2 had the 128K chip (yes, 128K, not megs or gigabytes) installed. I used it with a hardware/software package called WP2Mac (IIRC) and a Mac SE running WriteNow as the word processor and Acta as the outliner. Seamless integration. It made a great combo for writing. I used it for years until I moved to a Newton 2100 and then a MobilePro 700. Still use the MP700…

Rick (I’m back and now retired...)

The H/PC collection is actually growing (not that I really want it to grow). I acquired an HP 720 a while ago. It’s an interesting machine, but I haven’t been using it nearly as much as my MP700, PA2400 or (heaven forbid) TRGpro. I think I will be selling it. I also acquired an old Sharp PT-9000. It’s an XT in a PDA forum factor, running GEOS. I’ve been looking for one for about 20 years and picked it up recently on eBay (second one I’ve seen in the last 20 years) (very rare). These days the TRGpro is getting quite a workout (it’s smaller than either the MP700 or PA2400) with all my budgeting being done on the machine. Writing is still being done on the MP700 or PA2400 (depending on how much I want to carry). The weight of the machines is becoming an issue (as well as the weight of my camera gear)…

It's nice to be bask and I hope to participate more...

Rick

Speaking of B.O.S.S., this is my first PIM by Casio, which my grandfather gave to my dad and my dad gave to me.
It's called SUPER MEMORY COMPUTER DK-1100. I think it will power on once I get new batteries for it. haha

The keyboard is all in Hiragana (Japanese).

:-) Glad you like it.

Here's an interesting Japanese site about Casio Japanese PIMs.

I've also found an interesting PC PIM with keyboard called PI-ET1 by NEC.

Do you have any German PIMs?

@SOLIDUS

Well, PI-ET1 are hard to find since it's old / rare, but I've found a couple of those in the ended listings on Yahoo Auction Japan for a very low price...
