I managed to install (not just boot live image) Linux (Lubuntu 16.04) on KINGJIM XMC10!

I was trying to get this done for quite some time now, but it works! (It's pretty hard to install Linux on this tiny laptop)

Very cool. I had forgotten how much I admire that machine of yours.

Thank you! :-)
I've also created a quick video of the boot sequence and some commands on LXTerminal.

Looking good, love the soundtrack

You might check out Leeenux http://www.leeenux-linux.com/ , a Lubuntu 16.04 (also available is a 64-bit XFCE) that's tailored for netbooks.

For 9 USD, you can have every flavor, and I put the Lubuntu on my Asus EEE 900 last week. Works surprisingly well on such old hardware, with a lot of nice touches for the small screen. Developer says his ISOs can run on any computer.

Can't tell yet about his current support. After paying, I had to email for the download links, which he promptly sent. I did a write-up, very positive, and included some of my own workarounds for 32-bit hardware, but I didn't hear anything back. But I wasn't asking for outright support.

Oh, wow! Thanks for the information! Greatly appreciated!

I must say the GUI looks better on Leeenux!
I think I'll play it around by putting it on an old Vaio that I'm keeping...
I don't have the courage yet to install it on my Portabook as it took a lot of time configuring! lol!

Or I might as well buy a EEEPC cheap as I sometimes see it lying around in a shop called HARD OFF here in Japan.
