Wow, that looks great. Can't wait to hear about the "Halo keyboard." 13-hour battery should hold you in good stead for any zombie apocalypse.

I'm liking it so far, the trackpad is weird & hope they update it to work more like a regular track pad but the rest is pretty accurate.

GPD is going to produce a second product as well, this one is much more like an HPC:

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/gpd-pocket-7-0-umpc-laptop-ubuntu...

Full Windows, full keyboard. $399. Ubuntu version is available as well.

@thcrw739: how's that strange-sounding keyboard?

@Duckworth: I've had my eye on that, too. I'm a little weirded-out by the GPD Win shipping problems and I'll definitely wait for the second generation of the Pocket, if there is one...

Not sure what you mean by strange? but you can turn off clicks and vibration, I turn off click sounds and leave on vibration it gives just enough feedback to give the stimulation feel like your hitting a physical key...other than that its like laying you fingers on slightly less slick mildly textured piece of glass

Yea I tried a Yoga book on display at a local store, which has the same keyboard maybe smaller. I am not sure if I can really touch type on a keyboard like that... I think you need the physical shape of the keys to help determine your hand or finger positions constantly, without looking.

I think it'd be a lot better if the keyboard had grooves instead of one big smooth surface. But then of course it beats the purpose.

BTW this reminds me of an old Toshiba umpc with two screens in clamshell form. Can't remember the model name now...

Yes that's the one... Prices for that is crazy on ebay. Specs for that model are quite outdated. However as I said in my other thread Windows 10 might just work fine for basic usage

Good news! GPD Pocket has 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM upgrade for free!

The bookmark synching is a pain. My current workaround is to install Opera on the desktop, install Chrome extension utilizer on Opera, then Xmarks for Chrome. From there, you upload your Chrome stuff to Xmarks and from there, download to Opera. Desktop Opera then autsyncs with Android Opera.

Worth the hassle as Chrome browsing was driving me mad.

Jake

You could have just signed up for an Opera account and used Opera on both devices to get sync. Much simpler.

I'm so tempted by the Pocket, but that first generation is bound to have something wrong with it...

@thcrw739--I was just thinking a "Halo keyboard" was a strange appellation. Glad to hear that it's working out for your typing. And hope the trackpad finds its way to a better driver.

@Duckworth--Opera doesn't sync with Chrome (which is what I use on non-Android machines), hence the xmarks workaround.

@Jake. I'm curious: why not use Opera? it has the same features essentially and doesn't have Google spying.
