| So to recap... you spent $2000 on the truck, $200 on the wheels, and $20 on the radio.
We're all interested in how the radio turns out |

| BTW, the cruise control is made by Rostra...so was easy to install. I did it yesterday and the whole procedure took about an hour and a half...solder 7 wires into the existing harnessess, mount the control stalk and that's it. Works great. |

| Arrgh...so pissed...the unit was delivered last evening. ANDROID! It looks nice but not what I ordered. And the advertisement said GPS built in. What they meant was you can link you phone to it to mirror your phone's GPS image on the touchscreen. Contacted eBay already and this morning I had authorization from the vendor to return it. After printing out the postage my money was refunded already...and I didn't have to pay postage either...now I have to wait again... |

| Am I jinxed or what? The second radio came today...not the radio I originally ordered, not an Android radio, not a Windows CE radio...I have contacted eBay once more to start a complaint.
Update: It is a Windows CE radio, but it is pitiful. It has a resistive touch screen and washes out so badly in the sunlight you can barely see it. And it only has a 16mb rom in it. No firmware updates, and only another 16mb of ram for data storage...though you can use the USB port. There is also a micro-SD card slot n the thing but it wouldn't recognize my 32gb micro-SD card. It did recognize an 8gb card with music on it however.
Getting into the CE Shell was really easy as there is a pinhole reset button on the front of the thing and when it first boots from a cold reset, you very briefly see the standard Windows CE desktop, only for about 1/2 second. Then it loads a logo.bmp file. After that it comes up to the main menu screen. After the initial boot, everytime you turn off the radio or the car, it comes directly to the menu screen.
The screen menu has the options of RADIO, SD, USB, PICTURE, EBOOK, GAMES (stupid silly little game), SETTINGS (where you can adjust brightness and a prompt that lets you change the logo.bmp to any other picture you want.
But here is the interesting thing....hold the pin down in the reset hole and it boots to straight WinCE and gives you an error message that it cannot find the logo.bmp. You can click out of that and be in the normal CE6 shell.
I didn't even bother to install it in my truck...the video quality even at max brightness sucks big time. And I don't want a resistive screen on my radio which will surely get scratches and look crappy after a year or so.
It's going back! |

| Mmm... Its windows CE so is it surprising to use a resistive screen?
If the resistive screen has good sensor you can use your finger just fine, and there are no scratches unless you use a bad stylus. I play on my Wii U gamepad every day, and although the touch screen is only used occassionally, it works fine with my fingers. I only use the stylus if i want to draw something to post on MiiVerse.
I also have had many DS/3DS machines and they are fine with resistive. |

| I would imagine you could get hold of cut-to-fit screen protector film as well. |

| I've just become spoiled with capacitive screens I guess...my phone and tablet both have Gorilla glass and are nearly impervious to scratches from normal use.
It really was okay I guess...but still wasn't bright and the resolution was a pitiful 800 x 480. Other car radios are HD... |

| I have a Pioneer stereo/nav system with resistive touchscreen. Apparently, one of the reasons for using resistive touch is so that people can operate it with gloves on in cold climates. |

| But I bet the Pioneer's screen doesn't get washed out with a little sunlight, does it? Good point about the cold however... |

| Yes, the Pioneer's screen is excellent in the bright sunlight. I was hoping your WinCE experiment would work out, because the stereo in my wife's Jetta is malfunctioning, and I need to find a decent replacement.
