As I've said before, there is nothing quite as enjoyable as cozying up with my Jornada 720 around the fire in the early morning hours... cup of coffee in hand.... and cruising the internet for interesting subjects.

And its all so easy to do now, especially if you have a pcmcia ethernet card like a Kingston NE2000 compatible... which plugs into these new cheap tiny ethernet to wpa2 wifi adapters that cost $20... allowing you to connect to your home router with absolute security. Easy peazy!!

Now, we're talking doing this within WinCE either using text mode via frogfind.com. or better yet-- get full static webpage with working html links if you set up WRP server on a small cube-like home windows 10 computer ($100). Frogfind is fast but somewhat truncated, WRP has a 10 second delay but offers the full deal static webpage with some tricks.

No video or audio, but you have your smart phone for that. You know we're seeking deeper depth, we're contemplative, more imaginative, wherein silent and slower page refreshes are our friends.

What's also nice is you can save webpages to your Jornada for viewing later and easily set up a network share on your home router usb storage to centralize finding things.

Here for instance I am writing this post on my Jornada 720 with pocket word and saving to the network drive. From my laptop I can have access to and upload it to the HPC:Factor forums.

Delicious, absolutely delicious ....and delightfully tastey... hmmmm... and the coffee too!

So come along now... don't be shy.... join in... give it a try. I will guide you along and turn you WinCE HPC lovers once again... into happy campers... perhaps the happiest of campers. Done deal.

WinCE HPC's... one of life's never ending little joys... and for how many years now C'Amie???

Anyone interested???

Joval (composed and saved in pocket word on Jornada 720)

We have a poem generator in the SCL too

Here's a cheap way to get on line:

This works great ethernet to WPA2 up to 300Mbs, I paid about $20.

SoHoWare ethernet pcmcia card found for about $14, others typically about $25-30 on Ebay. Uses NE2000 common driver.

I admit it ain't pretty or compact... but does a great job... and for many hours! Trust me... I'll find a way to shrink it all down... and run it off the jornada battery perhaps. Don't forget...you are completely untethered and have WPA2 secure connection. Most other cards (Kingston) have much smaller dongle, some have the xjack (?Elon) with no dongle (3Com does but that one has driver issues). More photos to follow of various permutations and the results: surfing the net in HPC style, and accessing network storage... securely.

So dry up those "I wannabe free" tears and start smiling again and drooling! Unlock the true power of your HPC, stand back then let it out of the cage... you won't be disappointed! Satisfaction guaranteed... sin dudo!

@joval I'm assuming that red contraption is the battery. Here's something a little smaller and won't power down by accident (an issue I found with many external batteries). I use it to drive my serial-to-wifi:

Very cool! I am tempted to try this...work with simpler websites from the J720 would be nice.
