| @fwilhelm I agree very cool ....especially to be able to post here on HPCFactor. Next I'll try it on one of my Jornada 720's. Love it! I just LOVE it!! Giving these little beasties a new life "out of the cage!"Still learning how to space my lines, do carriage return, but overall quite incredible to be online securely using a 20 year old WinCE device... I don't see why this won't work with J680, or MP880 either as the same ethernet cad or Kingston should do the trick. Pardon me while I determine the limits of the WRP proxy text box Edited by joval 2024-02-28 8:33 PM

| I tried this and it works like a charm. Not having been online on my J720 for a long time (years ), I am amazed by how quickly you can browse (albeit with simple pages, yes ).
I was able to check today's scores on Indian Wells tennis :- )
Very nice!
Next step is to use this with an untethered wireless repeater so I can move this setup around. I used a tethered one since I had it around.
Thanks Joval!!! (IMG_5066.jpg) (IMG_5068.jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_5066.jpg (41KB - 0 downloads) IMG_5068.jpg (46KB - 0 downloads) |

| Great hearing the excitement in your good news. The $13 ethernet to wifi adapter will run for hours and hours off a small USB cell phone charger battery... true portability. Wait until you give WRP a try.... and also... network storage to write posts and save for uploading later. Enjoy the little beastie "Jornada Unchained!" |

| I use my 680e (upgraded to 32mb rom) for email and basic browsing. Certain pages work and luckily they are news ones so i can read the news and check my email. Works for me. Yes i wish there were more it could do but im happy it can do anything at all ! :-) |

Will be trying this at the weekend ...............................Yes, Frogfind is great for viewing text like Wikipedia articles and can download as htm text file. Add to that http://www.google.com/ enter search bar, click images then search and you can view thumbnail images to complement your wikipedia text... or to look up say, wiring a RJ45 cable, etc. I'll post photo later as I'm typing this on MP900c using WRP and can only post text. | posted ScreenSnap images from J720 with PIE 4.0 browser via http://www.google.com... search... images. See above. You are limited to low res thumbnail... true... and not all images will display...but still quite handy IMO. (Images transferred from J720 to network share on router usb_storage then via laptop to HPCFactor ). Now, careful, watch out... stand back... this little beastie is...Uncaged!! Unchained!!! Beware ... now delivers a real Byte!! Edited by joval 2024-03-19 7:31 PM

| Check out this cheap ethernet to secure WPA2 wifi set up... completely powered by the MP900c usb port and pcmcia slot. Fully mobile, battery lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours, everything turns off with MP900 power button. More compact versions are possible with smaller dongles, but you get the idea. Super cheapo way to get online!

| Very cool indeed. Makes you wish that proprietary port on the Jornada 720 could be used to power the Wifi extender! :-) |
