dexxplorer: i'll test the new version soon

oh i'm looking forward to the irc client..!
i'd be glad to test those quickly ported beta versions too!
you're so right, a ppc simply isn't suitable for irc

usb: i never saw any source code for it.. just compiled drivers..

Yeh I dont see why SH4 shouldnt be available. Ill do one for you today or soon, been struck down with kids germs and have been ill for the last few days again, argh.

IRC client hasnt moved yet, looked over the code and decided to redo it rather than convert it but got sidetracked with the mouse driver.

about dexxplorer:
how is the menu supposed to work? not sure if it works now.
hey anyway i like this stuff, it looks really good on the sig3... (not counting the error messages!)

oh and i forgot to mention something.. processviewer might not work on ce.net devices if they don't have toolhelp.dll in ram, my ce.net devices don't but i got it from somewhere (only with a little help though!).

Ahh sorry for delays, been sick and then had to rearange the house, went to wifi which isnt as good as I hoped, my 820 isnt networked yet and I just havent had time to write any code for a while. Next week I should be back to full power and looking at what to do next.

Yes there will be issues with some devices as DLL's are removed or renamed. I only have the 820 to test on and it uses a mouse and is rather old. The menu should work with a right click (mouse) or hold the ALT down and left click. That should bring up a context menu in the right listview. Left treeview menu is not implemented properly yet. Dexxplorer should work on most devices though, and Ill get an SH4 version into the next release or sooner depending on what I work on next.

The IRC client was functional on PPC2000 then was ported to PPC2003 but there were issues with the HTML control ( I used that for the display text, means it can do cool things ) Going backwards shouldnt be any harder than porting forwards and I think the HTML control will be even better seeing as 2000 worked fine. Im not sure how long it will take if I set out to finish it though, but I guess it would be cool to get everyone chatting.

The mouse driver is proving even more difficult, I have tried to get the source from microsoft that came in the tool kit and PB, but so far they tell me its not possible (Phone call) and that they are researching it (via email), as yet I have had some success with getting the driver to install and recognise the mouse, but need to learn how to write some pipes. Basicly the pipes are all thats left to do.

Its realy a case of what I get into, and how much time I have to get into it. I realy appreciate the support and will continue to release free ( although not production quality at times ) software for HPC.

I should have called this "My Free Software".... To late now I guess

Ok this is a screen shot of and obscure and unknown IRC client running on what I think is a Jornada 720.
<img src="http://fluffy.4ss.net/images/splatter.jpg">

I think its called Splatter (Strange name for an IRC client), but I dont think its downloadable yet, still in beta, but looks like its working fine in a one channel setup. Word from the developer is that a multi room version will be available in possibly a few days.

Oh and if you want to beta test it or bang heads with the guy who made it, join Efnet and go to #HPCDev, I think the guy who made it is there sometimes, his name is Dexxta.

*tease tease*

EDIT: I dont like to use attachments, but I forgot to enable HTML...

I know I'm going to get flamed, but I have a few questions...

1.) What is an IRC client?
2.) What devices/OS's can use it?
3.) Why are we drooling over it?

Mercy.

Flamed? Never, not here.

IRC = Internet Relay Chat. It was what people used to chat before Instant Messaging.

Im building it for HPC Pro, which means there is chance it will work on any HPC device with a little tweaking. It likes the old version of htmlview.dll so it might mean we have to get some HPC Pro dlls going around for it.

Why people are drooling I guess is because you can use it to connect to a specific server that acts as a gateway to your IM clients. EG, you can use it to chat to your MSN Messenger buddies on HPC Pro that doesnt come with MSN Messenger.
Also I guess cause people like new software to liven up their old devices, and chatting is a popular thing.

Just as an update, I am almost done redoing multiple rooms now. Finishing off some details and testing. We have a couple of regulars in the chat room now, and if you want to drop in, see the other thread about IRC Chat, and come say hello.

Right now if you want to beta test it its the only place to get it, in the chat room that is. Efnet - #HPCDev

Ill be doing builds for all processors, Arm, Mips, SH3 and SH4.
