Hi,

I also have the Nokia card. But I can't get the Wifi to work. Not on my J728 and not on my Laptop.

My other cards: 3Com and Netgear works great.

I think the problem is with the WEB key: e669222917 (40 bit)
When entering this key in the boxes I get a 0x..... in the text box. After reinserting the card it keeps on searching and searching.

Als I have network and station security?

What's wrong

strange, my D211 driver reloads just fine on reinsertion of card.

anyway, if you don't have any security enabled, then probably you have an incompatible 54mbps router...?

Good theory. I've just had a new state home hub installed, so maybe that's the problem. When I've a mo I'll check my other WiFi cards (Cisco & Ambicom) to make sure they're still coping. Meanwhile, re the 211, on the positive side I bought it for the texting & that works fine so I'm all ; being able to use as a wireless card too would have been icing on the cake , ; anyway thanks for the suggestions - & any more welcome!

iirc the key has to be entered uppercase so turn caps lock on.

forgot whether network or station security is needed, maybe station. i can check

If I bought one of the Nokia D211 PCMCIA cards off of eBay, is there any carrier in the United States that it would work with?

As cmonex says, the D311 is the alternate device. It is - so says the Nokia paperwork - the US version of the D211 with no other changes. some people do seem to be disputing that statement with mixed results.

According to the discussion in this thread:

Cingular can offer you a compatible service

Careful when buying these off ebay - i can't use mine on orange UK, yet it seems to work on Virgin (i don't want to actually try it tho - their charges are extortionate). Guessing it's been locked, but the only way i can see to unlock it would be one of those 150gbp+ boxes - and even then it's not guaranteed.

Googling for a solution to this just f**ks me off ("we send you the unlock code via sms upon receipt of your payment" - it hasn't a keypad! duh!)

Anybody else managed to unlock theirs or flash it to the latest firmware somehow?
