can't wait, ... as I'll remove EVB anyway, I'll have space to put that in v3.

This is my new skin...
The taskbar at the bottom is also new: its not based on Wisbar/Gigabar. It is a new feature of my updated Gshell project.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow..

@ Geared2003

In the original skin there is no volume adjustment.

Your new skin shows a cursor for volume adjustment.

Do you think it’s possible to get a skin with this adjustment for a 320x240 screen ?

Thanks

Of course it is possible...
BTW, there are now several TCPMP mods with skinning capabilities.
The Shinco Player is only one of them.
The new chinese WinCE 6 devices (Newman Momo, Ramos V80) also come with a customized TCPMP version.

Hello, I am new here and I am also new when it comes to PDAs. I have an axim x30. It is completely new, never used and I have not put any programs in it because I do not know how. I would like to know what this thread is about... it all sounds like a different language to me. I am reading about TCPMP being dead, yet I have been downloading programs and saving them until I find out how to use/install them. I don't know what HPCs are. Can someone help me out of this maze of confusion? I have been on the axim boards and have gotten a great deal of programs to download but now I am very confused after finding this forum.

Thanks a bunch,
Rosa

I'm not surprised that you're confused. The Handheld PC is a Windows CE device designed like a mini-notebook computer. It's a very different device from your Axim Pocket PC - it usually has a built-in full keyboard, and the desktop interface you see on the screen looks like the desktop computer version of Windows rather than the Windows Mobile screen interface. Like the Pocket PC, though, it turns on and off instantly, and synchronizes with a Windows PC using ActiveSync. However, programs written for Handheld PCs may or may not work on Pocket PCs. (The media player discussed in this thread is an exception - it should work nicely on your Axim.)

There's also some discussion about TCPMP in the Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine forums, which also has a forum section specifically for the Axim:

To get an idea what an H/PC looks like, check this page for pictures of one of the coolest H/PCs:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=12715&po...

Installing programs can be done through ActiveSync, which can be downloaded here as well as from Microsoft if you don't already have it:

http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/syncsoft/

I use ActiveSync 3.8, but any version from 3.7.1 through 4.5 should work for you. After installing, connect the Axim to the PC using the USB sync cable. ActiveSync should open automatically, after which you can run the setup file for the program you want to install, and the program will install automatically on the Axim.

Hi!

I've tried to go through those 11 pages, but I eventually got lost...

Let's see if I grasped the basics about multimedia on HPC2000.

Once upon a time, there was the stock CE media player.
It was not good enough, so WinCESoft (if I had it right) developed PocketMVP as an open source project, which was a very nice move.
It needs a special library (GAPI) which, again, can be downloaded from WinCESoft for free.
I don't understand if PocketMVP is related to TCPMP, which by the way, AFAIK was discontinued after v0.72RC1, but then I see references to newer versions...??

Then Geared2003 came along, and... developed a special skin for...?
And everyone raves about it.

This is the point where I got lost:

- Did Geared2003 develop a special skin for PocketMVP, TCPMP or yet another player?

- Is it a skin only, or does it come with new functions?

- Exactly where to find it, and how to install it?

- Is there some other Media Player which is better than PocketMVP?

Thanks a lot to any kind soul who can summarize the thing for me. It may be helpful for other newcomers, too.

Fernando

IIRC, the developers of TCPMP used the source code from PocketMVP when writing TCPMP.

Geared2003 essentially did the same thing: he built on top of the existing TCPMP, with additional plugins to support additional media such as FLV (Flash Video) files. As of download links for Geared2003's version of Media Player, you need to recheck the 11 pages of this thread. The links are here.

First, make sure you've installed GAPI for HPCs:

http://www.wincesoft.de/

If it's still choppy after installing and configuring GAPI and selecting it as the video driver in TCPMP, then the bitrate may be more than the device can handle. You can use a video converter like DVD Catalyst on your PC to convert the video to a lower framerate. (GAPI should be able to handle 25 frames per second nicely.)

Is GAPI selected in TCPMP as the video driver?
