| The attached screenshots will show you what it is about...
As you probably know, I am a skinning fan, and I wanted to go a step further than basic icon replacement and Windows UI hacking... So i dug out an old Japanese Freeware application that is no longer publicly available; I translated it to make it more usable, modified it and finally added several extras...
This is a very fast desktop and start menu replacement for the NEC Mobilepro 900c with many add-on utilities. If anyone is interested in this new project, I can make a CAB installer. Looks great

What do you mean by fast? does it speed up the desktop menus etc...?
And what are the add-on utils list?
a comment on the UI skins thing is am looking for a skin that would be better to view in daylight/night. As you know the MP900 screen is barely readable in daylight viewing. Would love to have a toggle switch to change skin to daylight/night skins that would have better colors to view in either mode.

Fast means: much faster than the Windows CE desktop. Some features: single click app launch, no need to use a stylus, very fast desktop background switching, no delays at start up (unlike many skinning applications ).
The list of included utilities is very long:
-screen capture
-volume control
-mini desktop calendar
-battery and memory meters
-multiple desktops
-taskmanager
-clipboard manager
-keyword menu,
-file search
-background switcher (use any BMP or PNG file )
-custom start menu, etc...
Unfortunately, It cannot improve the poor DSTN screen capabilities...
Cmonex, I will send you the package when it is ready ( tomorrow ). And I agree with you: Wisbar is not good for HPCs - as long as there is no decent taskbar replacement, I will keep the default WinCE taskbar.

| hope the single click launch can be disabled that is one thing that separates CE from ppc: you dont have to worry you accidentally singleclick something. very comfortable.
the point here is i hope it is customizable by the user. maybe others prefer the silly singleclick.
other than that..
..i can't wait for the cab
Gweb: i think the white scheme in custom rom helps somewhat ourdoors, but maybe that's just my imagination. also, upping the contrast helps too. Edited by cmonex 2007-06-16 4:48 PM

Cmonex, the launcher behaves exactly like the Windows XP start menu: you don't double-click start menu icons, do you ?
This application doesn't change the Windows CE explorer behaviour: it just adds a custom interface on top of the default WinCE desktop. You can always switch between this custom UI and the regular desktop with no effort: just press the "Esc" key, and that's all...
I'll send you the CAB file today, don't worry... Edited by Geared2003 2007-06-17 2:56 AM

I often do - force of habit, I guess.
I'm looking forward to the CAB file too for the ol' skeye.pad. Thanx, Geared2003. |

Sorry to disappoint you, CE Geek: my package is for the NEC 900c only (it is also a CE.net only application, so it won't work on HPC2000 devices ). The applications included in my QuickStart Package do actually work with any CE.Net device, but the settings and included skin files are made for 640x240 pixel screens only. So you can still try it, but you will have to rebuild the skins from scratch, according to your screen size. I made a special version for my Mio 268, which can be used on GPS devices with a 320x240 pixel screen: I can share it if anyone is interested.
I have just sent the QuickStart Cab file to Cmonex, and asked her to upload it to her website. |
