Majerus.net Active Shell

Handheld PC News

Previously lost to the community, we are pleased to announce that with the help of its author, Philippe Majerus, we have been able to restore the Windows CE .net and higher script based command shell into the SCL.

Known best to many within the Windows CE community under his initials “PHM" as used in his widely used Windows CE registry editor PHM Regedit, Philippe has been gracious in looking through his archives for missing binaries and code from his former days as a Windows CE developer and has helped us to restore the binaries here on the site.

Majerus Active Shell, or MAS is a script-based command shell for Microsoft Windows NT (Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, including 64-bit editions) and Windows CE (Embedded and Windows Mobile for Pocket PC). MAS creates an environment for executing scripts interactively and has been tested to work with JScript, VBScript, Active Ruby Script, PerlScript or Python as the base scripting language.

When you type commands at the MAS prompt, MAS plays the part of the host application, interacting with the selected script engine to get your command executed while making objects and services available for the script – in a conceptually similar way to PowerShell.

MAS is available for the following CPU architectures running Windows CE 4.0 or higher along with a console program preinstalled on their devices:
  • ARMv4
  • ARMv4I
  • ARMv4T
  • Emulator
  • MIPS16
  • MIPSII
  • MIPSII_FP
  • MIPSIV
  • MIPSIV_FP
  • SH3
  • SH4
  • x86

Other PHM Software utilities in the SCL include:
PHM PowerToys
PHM Regedit
PHM Reset
PHM Suspend

Our thanks again to Philippe Majerus (@PhMajerus) for assisting us with the release of the application back to the community as well as to torch for setting it all up.
