eVT Error "The MSDN collection does not exist. Please reinstall MSDN" accessing help

Overview

When you attempt to access the eVT 3.0 help system from either eVB 3.0 or eVC 3.0 using the help menu or the F1 keyboard shortcut you receive the following error message

The MSDN collection does not exist. Please reinstall MSDN.

How-to Guide

WARNING: If you use a Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to hard reset your Handheld PC back to its factory installed configuration. Edit your Windows CE registry at your own risk.
  1. Click Start, select run
  2. type Regedit and click OK to launch the Windows registry editor
  3. Navigate using the left hand tree view down to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTML Help Collections\
  4. Delete the registry key named
    CE Studio Developer Collections
  5. Using the embedded Visual Tools 3.0 CD or inflated download package. Launch setup.exe and when prompted, select Repair/Reinstall.
    If you are unable to locate your installation media for eVT 3.0. You can download it from the HPC:Factor developers section.

Please be aware that you may also need to run repair installations on Visual Studio 6, Windows CE Toolkits for Visual C++, Windows CE Toolkits for Visual Basic, Windows CE Toolkit 5.0 for J++, embedded Visual C++ 4.0 (RTM, SP1, SP2, SP3, SP4) and Platform Builder to effectively repair the Windows registry.
