Overview:
Linksys have issued new drivers for the WPC11 range of Wireless
Network Interface Cards (NIC) to support the Handheld PC class of
Windows CE Mobile Device.
This article is an addendum to CESDH0006 which provided details
of how to crack the Pocket PC 2000 drivers to work under HPC2000.
Solution:
Linksys have posted updated drivers for all three generations of
the WPC11 Wireless LAN Card. These drivers have been written to
provide specific functionality to the Handheld PC.
The WPC11 v4 card cannot be use in conjunction
with Windows CE. Linksys have chosen to use a different wireless
chipset in the device, changing the driver compatibility. The v4
card also operates on a bus of 32-bit's (Cardbus) wide. HPC devices
can only support 16-bit (PCMCIA) cards.
The advantage of using these drivers over the existing crack are:
- The drivers are supported by Linksys
- Windows CE 2.0 and 2.11 (HPC Pro) drivers have also been written
- The drivers allow for the use of Ad Hoc Peer-to-Peer connections
as well as infrastructure connections
Three different drivers have been made available for download.
Alternative driver versions for the 2.5 and 3.0 generation
WPC11 chipset and cards have been made available. Select the required
model number from the CESD download centre to begin the download.
If none of the three drivers work please see CESDH0006
for information on performing the Pocket PC 2000 driver crack
As a result of Linksys posting drivers for Windows CE the WPC11 has been entered
into the HCL as compatible with HPC2000.
If you have any further information on the compatibility of the WPC11 with Handheld
PC devices please get in touch contact
