Overview

This article discusses the availability of the generic drivers, also known as chipset reference drivers for the Intersil Prism 2.5 and Prism 2.5 USB Wireless Networking (WiFi) chipset.

More Info

HPC:Factor has compiled a library of Intersil Prism 2.5 reference drivers with the aim to resolve some of the confusion regarding the use of chipset drivers for PC Card or CF Card adapters with faulty, or non-existent OEM drivers.

Following the release of this article a change has been made in the inputting of Hardware Compatibility Data (HCD) in to the HPC:Factor Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). Adapters which are reported to function correctly using one of the generic drivers listed for download in this article will now be entered in to the HCL, where as before adapters using chipset reference drivers have not been indexed.

Driver Download

The following driver file versions are available for download from the CESD download centre.
For convenience HPC:Factor has included both the host installer executive and the Windows CE cabinet installer files in a separate file named Infalted.zip.
In order to choose the correct Cab version you will need to know the CPU compile reference ID for your Handheld PC's CPU. For a list of these codes see CESD-D-0004.

Windows CE 2.00

  • 1.07.24.1025 - Note that HPC:Factor has rewritten the CAB installers for this driver release

Windows CE 2.11 (H/PC Professional)

Windows CE 3.00 (HPC2000)

Windows CE 4.xx Net

We would be interested to hear in your successes and failures with Prism 2.5 based WiFi adapters. Please consider submitting both your successes and failures with these drivers through the HCL submission form so that we can aid as many users as possible with their hardware purchasing decisions. The HCL compatibility form is located here.
