This article discusses how to resolve the problems
More Info:
The HPC:Factor redistributable for Acrobat Reader 1.0 is a package
created based on the Pocket PC redistributable. For the convenience
of Handheld PC 2000 users, the installer has been recreated to allow
for the specific installation onto HPC2000 devices without the need
for the end user to resort to cracking.
The Acrobat Reader 1.0 redistributable while it has been re-wrapped
with additional installer commands and package file, contains no
modified Adobe Systems Inc. program code. All Adobe licensed files
within the package remain original.
As a result of this workarounds were required to allow the program
to run on the H/PC. Under some circumstances the updated library
files provided with the redistributable can interfere with existing
system components.
To restore the system to working order and maintain functionality
from Acrobat Reader 1.0:
- On your HPC2000 device open My Handheld PC
- Navigate to
\Windows\
- Tap the View menu and choose Options
- Select Show all files and tap OK
- Locate and highlight the following files (You can press and
hold down the ctrl key to highlight multiple, non-sequential files):
aygshell.dll
DocList.dll
mfcce300.dll
- From the edit menu select Cut
- Navigate to
\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 1.0\Reader
(Or wherever you installed Acrobat to, it is important that it
be the same folder where AcroRd32.exe resides)
- From the edit menu choose Paste, this will move the three
files from \Windows into the current directory
- Close all open programs and soft reset the Handheld PC
Once the files have been moved existing software will call the
original Library files from the Handheld PC' ROM image. When launching
Acrobat the redistributable will check for the required library
in the current working directory and load successfully.
