Overview:

The Compaq Aero 8000 includes a smart card reader (ISO 7816 compliant). The ROM is equipped with a smart card reader device driver written by Eclipse. Compaq has written a static library to assist developers in communicating with the Smart Card reader. The driver can be opened and closed, the reader can be queried as to the existence of a smart card, and messages can be sent. At present, only Compaq's Security, Compaq's Owner and Password control panel applets, and Compaq's Business Card application communicate directly with the device driver. Only one application can open the driver at a time and the driver is protected by a mutex.

The C files required to make use of the driver are included in this SDK.
