Exemptionware, the Windows CE Community License

The HPC:Factor Exemptionware initiative is an attempt to prevent legacy software applications from disappearing from the screens of Windows CE users by encouraging developers to release their software into the public domain, without relinquishing their rights or control over it.

The Exemptionware license initiative is designed to wrap existing programs in new licensing terms that are laid out explicitly by the exemptionware license with the express intent of reducing piracy and providing the developer with a point of contact here at HPC:Factor.

How to Help

If you are a member of the community or a developer yourself, then we need your help.

It is often difficult to track down developers, particularly since they stopped selling programs for Windows CE devices many years ago and often have moved onto newer initiatives.

If you are developer

Please get in touch with with via e-email, the forums or PM if you would like to discuss exemptionware further.

If you are community member

We need your help to identify, locate and contact developers (both individual and corporate) so that we can make motions to them about releasing part of their back-catalogue into the public domain via HPC:Factor.
