3com Ethernet card 3C589D-TP not working on Jornada 720

Tried to install 3com Ethernet pc card 3C589D-TP on my Jornada. Downloaded the driver from this websit and followed the instruction. After inpute the driver's name, the HPC freezes, not responding to any action and doesn't come back until I pull out the pc card. Any advice will be appreciated.
Is 3c589D-TP workable on Jornada 720? If not, which one among the 3c589x series is (or probably is)?

There is a known error with those 3com cards, only with the Jornada Series. I've got one too. You could try resetting the EPROM, by doing that you reset all setting to the factory defaults and should get it working.

The 3c589 drivers are beta drivers, so do often prove to be problematic.
Have you tried a soft reset with the card in / out. Are you sure you used the HPC2000 version and not the HPC Pro or 2.00 one?

C:Aime, why when I try the EPROM reset utility it never works? I never get past the loading utility what is wrong?

Are you running it under DOS with card services loaded?

From a boot floppy, yes dos. Whats Card Services?

Thank you for your advice. Have reset its EPROM to the factory defaults. But still not working. Regarding to your problem, maybe my experience can do some help. The configure program did not work well on my laptop. It always told me that no 3com adapters were detected. But it worked fine on my friend's laptop.

IT is always the D version which causes the most problems, for some it works, others it doesn't.
I haven't encountered a C yet which hasn't worked - aside frm the known suspend bug.

You could look out for a 589C or for a Socket LPE (no known bugs).

Only other thing I can suggest for the D is to hard reset and try it again, but that may be a lost cause.
Can you provide me with all the information on the back plate of the card, I'm trying to find a pattern in the failures.
