I'm thinking of putting a Linux or UNIX(NETBSD) on my Mobile Gear MC-R520. (Japanese Mobile Pro)

How will this be possible? I have a little experience on Linux systems.

Hi,

I think it is a MIPS VR4121, if so I tried to install linux in my z50 and the available kernels are very old, and lack functionality, please look at: http://www.peanuts.gr.jp/~kei/soft-install.htm
But netbsd have updated kernels and packages for mips vr4121!!!! Installed ok in my z50 ( need at least a 1GB microdrive or more).

Good luck!!!

Hi,

Yes, but netbsd uses swap a lot so you have to use "noatime" with a CF

If you get any success with the linux 2.6 kernel let me know please.

Cheers

I will first have to get a 1GB or 2GB CF card.
