I followed closely the installation manual about installing donkey on J690, but did not succeed.

I had to use
tar xjvf ~/donkey....tar.bz2
instead of
tar ~xzvpf ~/userland-xxx.tar.gz
because the latter simply does not exist!

Also, I had to use
cp cf-jlime/boot/zImage-2.6.17 cf-win/zImage-2.6.17
instead of
cp cf_jlime/boot/zImage cf_win/zImage

When I ran shlo.exe, the system reported 'loading failed: \Storage Card2\zImage-2.6.17'

Any hints are appreciated.

Okay, I went a little further. Now the errors are:
VFS: Cannot open root device "sdc2" or unknown-block(0,0)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I replaced 'hda2' with 'sdc2' because I knew it's 'sdc2' during partition.

Does this mean the CF card is not compatible?

I'd have a look at this thread... http://jlime.com/index.php?page=2&t=922&start=0&phpbb_script=viewto...

But sdc2 doesnt seem right.. its usually hda2 or sda2. Hope the thread helps. Most the CF card issues have been solved so i dont think its an incompatable CF card.

Cheers.

Thanks for your link. I went thru the thread. My conclusion is that the ID string of some cards may not be in the kernel. I'll try another card.

I tried a 512MB PQI CF card and it worked. WiFi works well with my Orinoco Gold card that automatically ties itself to 'eth0' while Linksys WPC11 v3 usually uses 'wlan0'. My initial observation is that whenever a card uses 'eth0', then WiFi works. Otherwise, WiFi does not work. I did manage once to get WPC11 v3 working with 'eth0', but cannot repeat (because WPC11 v3 always uses 'wlan0'. Is there a way to set any WiFi card to 'eth0'?

Although for Prism-based cards, 'start/stop' button on Jlime's WiFi utility did not show station, signal strength, and noise, it DID show ESSID, IP, MAC, AP, and subnet and connected to the net.
