I don't have the device yet, so I can't check this.

There is a device I want to buy. It's called the Soribook. It runs WinCE 5.0, and is intended to be used as an ebook reader.

I'm sure everyone knows that there are versions of Mobipocket Reader and Palm eReader for WinCE. I know Mobipocket says it only works on to 4.x, and I can't find any info on eReader.

Will these readers run on 5.0? You can find them here. Thank you.

That doesn't answer my question because WinCE 5.0 != WM5.

In case anyone is wondering, the answer was no. Mobipocket didn't run because it hasn't been updated for that generation of ARM chip.

The manufacturer tried it and said it didn't work. Don't you think the devices maker would rather have said it did work?

Plus, it's probably true. Here's a thread over on Mobipocket's forum:

But if you mean that's a stupid reason for it to not work, I agree.

yeah, I would understand if the guy had ARMv4 and the program was compiled for v5, but that's not the case.

what happens when you try to run the program?

OK, when you get it let me know.

we can probably find a way to get it running

have done that before, convert ARMv4T to plain ARMv4 to get apps to run

btw exactly what CPU does your device have? ARM11/v6 or is it a v5, any more details?

I was told it was "Freescale MX31(L) ARM11, 532 MHz".
