| I just got a jornada 720 hpc and everything has worked great-except the mail services. I type in my accounts for at&t, and yahoo, just like on outlook express. But when I try to connect, I just get an error of pop3 user name refused. Anyone else had this problem? |

| I am connecting with a wireless connection. It starts with a connecting message, then opening sending and recieving port, before it has the error. I tested by pulling out the card, and then it just didn't connect at all. Any ideas? |

| Are you experiencing any other issues with internet access and can you ping the mail server address using vxUtil - http://www.cambridgevx.com/ |

| No, I am not having any internet issues, and yes, I was able to ping pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com- It says POP3 user name refused in the error-I think it is yahoo itself. Their email service has always given me toruble. |

| Actually, I just found out that it is not yahoo-specific. AT@T mail, which is always working, is giving me a similar error. I think that there is a bug or something in outlook, or I need to reconfigure its connection, which I don't know how to do-I really have no idea why this is happening. |

| Ok, for incoming mail, it's pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com , for smtp, it's smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com , user account, compynerd386@sbcglobal.net - everything is right, it seems to be a software problem. I also tried with a modem earlier, same problem. This is unfortunate, as I remember pocket outlook working on ce 2.0, and I really need this to work |

| I put the details into my inbox app
the server challenged me correctly for a password... so it seems to be working.
If you specify an incorrect password does it challenge you? |

| Good idea, but it made this seem more like a software problem. I got the same error of POP3 user name refused, followed by may be incorrect password or user name, its not asking me for the password at all. I think ill try a hard reset. Can you tell me if it asked you for the password, or gave you a similar error message. |

| After not setting the password at all, a dialog box came up, I entered my password correctly, and got the same error message. I think the server might need authentication, but I do not see that option in pocket outlook. That might not even be the problem. But, if anyone knows how to enable authentication, that might be just what I need. |

| Hello,
Two things to try:
1 ) see my FAQ page at:
http://www.yetanotherhomepage.com/j7xx/faq_internet.html
under the topic "How can I set At&T Prepaid Internet Services ?"
2 ) For authentication, use nPOP:

| Definetly give what Henri is suggesting a try.
I wasn't seeing the error just the pass prompt. So we know that whatever is causing it comes after it gets the login credentials.
I searched around the web and on sbc yahoo it says not to set smtp or pop secure authentication. |

| Thank you very much nPOP not only has a better interface than pocket outlook, but it worked on the first try, like any mail program should. (I already remapped my mail key for it) |
