I watch month in, month out as new reviews of whatsoever appear on the HPC: Factor Home Page every time I visit the site. I read the reviews. Is it just the senior HPC: Factor users that are allowed to write reviews for the site and if not how do we post our own reviews? It's not that it's a bit unfair but it would be nice if everyone got a chance ...

From what I understand, any one can write a review, but you have to submit it to C:Amie since he is the chief editor...

And how do I do that? Do I somehow need to type the review on Office word and upload the file to C: Amie?

If it's reviewing a Handheld, does if have to be one that hasn't been reviewed yet?

Actually, clintonfitchdotcom is the reviews editor. Anyone can submit a review; he decides whether to post it (and does minor editing as necessary or sends it back to you first for revisions if necessary). Yes, we do ask that you review a device that hasn't already been reviewed. (I've recently submitted a review of the Intermec 6651; theoak originally intended to write a review of the Sigmarion III, but I don't know if she completed it before she sold hers. )

I submitted my Sig3 review long ago, but it apparently did not pass muster.

You've confused me again.

Do I type the review via Microsoft Word and send it by email to clintonfitchdotcom?
Do I type the review via the 'submit news' part of the site? If so how do I add pictures? (Most reviews here feature pictures and images).

I'm not going to submit a review right now I just want to know what to do when the time comes.

all reviews need to be written in Word format or in plain text. Also, include any screenshots or device shots for your review. Email your review to me (clinton at hpcfactor.com) and I'll review and/or edit with you before posting.

Thanks,

Alright, I'm having an air headed moment here clearly - and I've no doubt that it is entriely my own fault - but I don't have documents for an intermec review or sig3 review in my unreleased reviews folder or site to-do list.

I keep unpublished reviews in my email file system, and they get moved to the file system once published, so I would assume that they got spam recycled, never arrived or Clint never passed them up once edited.

I've searched my hard disk for both on the off chance and neither show up.

So I/we owe two good people apologies, this is poor form on our part.
Sorry.

---

Anyone can submit reviews in for consideration, but they can't publish them themselves.

We can be a little picky over editorial standards - for good reason. For example the main faux-pas we see are reiteration of the manual, picture books, spending too much reviewing Win CE #.## when doing a hardware review and focusing too broadly on one H/PC / CE version when reviewing generic perhipherals and software i.e. making a review on a game about the game on the Jornada 720.
Lastly, we are not accepting review submissions for anything that you have hex-edited to work at this time.

A longer, more formal version of the review writing guidelines is available in the site help section. http://www.hpcfactor.com/qlink/?linkID=136
