How did u created the checksum ? What do u mean "not normal checksum" ? I am fighting w/ that for a few days already...
Thanks
For checksum , is easy .
Use an hex-editor ( winhex for example ) and make the checksum for the file you need .
If you use WinHex , then once the editor is started , open the file inside the editor ... and in the menu tabs choose ... TOOLS > COMPUTE HASH and choose CHECKSUM (32bit ) .
Dont fight anymore ... if you dont have the rights wepons !

Hi !!
Thanks. but didt work.
I was doing exactly as you said, but no success.
My image file
www.caporal.biz/gps/WINCEIMG.rar
The checksum I found
2021F1D7
But the GPS says it is wrong.
My GPS is dead now. Even that I have all the files.
I am sure there is a trick in this one. I just cant find it. |

The winceimg.bin is now loaded on the Magellan Roadmate 2000... It didn't want a normal checksum (someone helped me off the forums). When I plug it in to the computer via USB, it recognizes it as a Magellan RM 2000, but I can't connect to it or do anything from the computer. Also, on the device itself, it does not function as a GPS or show me any WinCE functionality, all it does is put up a white screen, with a black progress bar that scrolls along the bottom from left to right and then stops.
hey there I think we were in contact via email yes? I remember giving you the checksum.
any luck with the device since then? |

| Great. But not for long...
Put the checksum, the device accepted.
I tough that I would be safe then and started trying to hack my GPS.
At some point, I had to many files on HDD3 and decided to clear the device by choosing Upgrade WINCE - SD/MMC (format)
All went fine. Reboot the GPS and now I have a white screen w/ a black stripe on it. Does not go further.
Any ideas ?
Thanks. |

That was posted in the first page.
O put the filemanager on the root of a SD card and renamed the filemanager.exe to DM.exe and made a copy named micManager.exe
Then, I got inside a filemanager and I restored my backup that I did before.
I managed now to run I-Go, Destinator (not good - too slow ) and MioMap. I will put only the I-Go inside it. As soon as I managed to finish, I will post how I did.
Thanks all

| Yey !!! Great.
I just finished (well, I can improve the interface a little ) my work on my GPS MAgellan RoadMate 2000
Now, when it starts up, I can choose between I-Go 8 and MioMap.
I had some problems putting the Destinator 8 to work, so I think those 2 are going to do ok.
I am going on a little vacation to the North East of Brazil so I will check how this will behave. As soon as I get back, I will post more information (if I still remember ) and a youtube video.
I dont think that is possible to the US maps though. They are too big and maybe they wont fit.
Thanks to all folks that helped me in this endeavor
Specially cmonex for helping me w/ the checksum and to gwtraveller from this forum, where I started

Merry Xmas and a great 2009 to all.

| How do I know if I need ARM, MIPS, SH3, SH4, CE.NET?
I assume I need "Handheld PC" not "Pocket PC" or "Palm Size PC"
These are the choices for GS finder at:
http://page.freett.com/todamitsu/GSFinderE.htm
Edited to add:
I also tried Total Commander as suggested. It is a .zip file containting .CAB files, no EXEs. I also have to choose ARM, MIPS, SH4, or SH3 and I have no idea which processor is in my RM 2000 Edited by mgrm2k 2008-12-25 3:13 PM

| Here is a nice list of free WinCE file explorers:
http://www.downloadsquad.com/2007/02/19/5-free-windows-mobile-file-...
TotalCommander is just .CAB files and I dont know where to get the EXEs. I tried GS finder, I took each version of GSFinder.exe:
SH4
SH3
MIPS
CE.NET SH4
CE.NET SH3
CE.NET ARM
ARM
and copied it to DM.exe and micManager.exe and put it on the root directory of an SD card (same one I used before to get the win ce image back on the device ). None of them kicked off a file viewer... Edited by mgrm2k 2008-12-25 3:56 PM

| Thanks!
But this trick involves getting .exe files.
GS Finder does come as .exes but I dont know which one to use.
I tried all of them but none worked. I could fiddle around more (using a smaller card, reformatting in fat 16, etc ) but I need to narrow it down to one processor or else it will take forever!!
If it helps, my device says "WINDOWS CE CORE 5.0" on the back. Edited by mgrm2k 2008-12-25 4:23 PM
