Chris, have you seen this? The Returned (French):

https://www.netflix.com/title/80037657

Good plot, sufficiently existential.

A couple of months ago, I sent a link for the BSG 2003 series to HPC:Fan. I've been watching it myself since. Good stuff. I quite enjoyed it, despite the various disconnects and unexplained deus ex machina moments. I watched the first few episodes of Caprica a few years ago. I guess I'll watch the rest now.

Jake,

No I haven't, I'll give it a look.

Mobi,

If you're going for completeness, don't forget Blook & Chrome.

I think BSG2003 has aged well. It was quite impactful, ushering in the age of the sci-fi dark, gritty military style of presentation. It's a shame that the writers and show runners let the cast down in some areas, but like you say, it's still good.

Problem with "The Returned" is that they cancelled it after the season and left you hanging…

Rich, they did do a second season, and in fact, wrapped it up pretty nicely.

Thanks for the recommendation. I remember seeing the first episodes of BSG2003 when they aired on TV, but my wife's not a fan, so I started missing episodes.... it's so nice to be able to binge-watch hours of canned episodes at your leisure, when your SO is working.

I think the second season of "The Returned" is honest, cohesive, perhaps not as gripping as the first season, but unless it's "The Godfather," what ending doesn't pale a little compared to its build-up?

Why didn't any of you tell me that Morena Baccarin was in Firefly... I'd have watched it 16 years ago.

So, I just finished the first episode of the Umbrella Academy on Netflix. I wasn't sure about the show until about the last 10 minutes. I understand character development and all but it didn't seem to fit together. That is until the last 10 minutes. Let's just say I'm going to continue watching it.

I just finished Firefly and its movie, Serenity.

The movie was a bit of a 90 degree turn, but entertaining in a far blacker way. Good series. I would have liked to have seen what Whedon would have done with it over a full 7 series run. The cast were good. Definitely a loss for everyone that it got axed.

I can see how Summer Glau went from here to Cameron in Sarah Connor Chronicles,

Bad writers

Bad writers and actors placed in roles they should have never been placed in.

Ever since the reboot of Trek, it's been "ugh" all the way in my opinion.
