So! GoT series 8?

I am surprised that no one has mentioned it!

I'll put my thoughts in a spoiler tag:

Show spoiler...
I have done up tot he half way point at the current time; 803.

I rewatched 710 before jumping in. 801 and 802 were OK. Setting it up.

803 though... I can see perhaps where some of the recent ire and petitions started to come from. It was more like resident evil meets Assassins Creed than GoT. Despite all the action, I neither found it immersive or especially engaging. I can't quite pin 'it'. The battle of the b.....s was far more captivating.

I had to ramp the brightness up on the screen to maximum and still could hardly see anything. I get that they wanted to set-up for the Dothraki "light brigade" cavalry charge set piece and all, but they could have clouded over the moon for it and filmed something other than a black sheet.

They totally missed an opportunity to have some cameos. When the knight king raised the new army and the Stark crypt came to life they should have had Sean Bean running around with a crazed look in his eye.

I don't think that the main characters would have made the mistakes that they made here. Keeping the dragon on the ground as an open target. So willingly and wastefully providing a new army for the knight king. Not preparing for Drogon to come into the picture.

How could they!

804 next!

This looks like it's going to be really good!

I watched it. It was a bit... limp. I don't think that it quite knew what it was, let alone anyone in it. We, the viewer, are no better off understanding wise at the end of it vs. where we were 10 minutes before we started. We just sat through a rather sedate road trip (for an apocalypse thriller).

I'm hoping for a "Star Trek, Early Voyages" With Capt. Pike. Seeing a slightly upgraded Enterprise with Capt. Pike, Number One and a young Spock would be a great Christmas present!

I think it would be nice for them to give Number One a name

I'd agree, however history shows that they cannot conduct prequels with an sense of being respectful towards canon. I'd rather they focus on the post Nemesis era or go and screw up the Kelvin timeline instead.

Hello...

What was the unimaginable? Romulus / Spock reference? Did they lose the Enterprise? The Titan?

I don't always follow Star Trek news, but this came up while I was searching for movies etc.

William Shatner is 88 years old, btw. He looks very young!

hmm, curious. On the one hand I can see that having another outing would be something that he'd like to do and I'm sure there is some fan service. On the other, is it trying to keep up with Leonard Nimoy's success on the Abrahams reboot? I suppose if there was a plot necessity for it it would be one thing. But to resurrect a character from the dead a second time to play fan service. Especially if it is going to be in the reboot timeline nonsense. I'd say to Mr. Shatner to think twice before undermining his character legacy in the interest of one last pay cheque.
