Hello all, I'm a HPC newbie.

Now down to business. I received a Jornada 720 from my father, although the screen was frozen and now has some red lines on it. I was wondering if their is any music software that can play FLAC files? FLAC is a lossless music format. You can go here if want to know more. The other thing that has been rummaging through my mind is playing FLAC on the Jornada 720 worth it? Is the audio hardware good enough to play something that clear?

I thank you all for your help.

Well, for GSPlayer and MortPlayer someone made a (PocketPC) FLAC plugin that you can find here. It's worth a shot, although there may be more or less work involved depending on what version of the PPC OS it was built for and such. I'm not sure what other players support FLAC off the top of my head.

TCPMP in the downloads section likewise has a FLAC plugin.

IMHO FLAC playback on Jornada (and any other handheld/cheap mp3 player) is completely pointless.

Sorry for my "necro-posting", but I disagree that playing flac on Jornada is "pointless".

I hexedited the FLAC plugin for GSPlayer and it works in my Jornada 720 like a native. The sound quality is great (of course we are talking about high-end earphones or sound systems, attached to Jornada), and the compatibility with flac songs is 99,9%.

However, I was very surprised with sound quality that produces ipaq h3630 (SA-1110 and pocket pc 2000 OS) with the same stuff. It plays like a devil, I don`t know what sound chip used its creators in the beginning of 2000s - surprising quality and loudness, even greater than modern samsung galaxys. Interesting, that later models h38xx and h39xx are much more modest than their "grandpa".

If someone interested, here`s tha FLAC plugin. Just put it in the same folder, where your GS Player is installed: https://drive.google.com/open?id=10LrX47zIcFIH1MoLfq9qG_538ezBWcZb

Anton,

Very cool. Would you object to it being added to the SCL?
