| So I just bought an Hp Jornada 720 for fun and I got the NetGear MA401 16 bit PCMCIA 802.11b WiFi card. It does not come with any drivers that will work with the HP so if you go online you can find out that the unit uses a Prism Chip. So I download from HPC Fcactor the Hp software for it and now I still can't get it to work. During the end of the insatllation I get this error message:
"prismsta.exe created a fatal error and needs to shut down", I also got "
Exception : 0xc0000005
Address : 00d6f2ac
Can soemone tell me what that is and how to get this Netgear working? |

| In this case that's usually an error related to mfcce300.dll. By chance, have you installed any Pocket PC programs on the 720? |
|
|
|
| Nope just hard reset and reconfigured the basics like time, etc. |

| Did you download the driver from this page?
http://www.hpcfactor.com/support/cesd/h/0028.asp
It sounds like you may have installed the Pocket PC version of the driver. |

| Yes I did I downloaded the HPC 2000 version of the software. Is there another method to make this work or another driver that would work? If you know of any updates I would greatly appreciate it |

| If it helps any, there's a CESD here that explains the Compaq WL100 drivers could be tried in addition to the prism 2.5 reference drivers.
Also, it might be worth trying other versions of the prism 2.5 reference drivers for HPC2000 besides the recommended one. |

| I got Jornada 720 and same card and mine works without problem. It seems you have installed the wrong driver because I had same problem in the past.
I used this driver and it works.

when it says:
Quote If prompted for a Driver Name upon inserting the adapter for the first time, H/PC Pro and HPC2000 users should type prismnds.dll into the Driver Name box and tap OK.

| As explained above, make sure you are installing the Handheld PC version of the "2577" CAB file, as opposed to the Pocket PC version. This still sounds like a conflict with mfcce300.dll. Can you look for that file in \Windows on your 720, select File -> Properties, and let us know the size of that file in bytes? (By any chance, have you installed any Pocket PC programs on your 720? ) |
