With a successful Viewsonic v212 CE 5.0 ROM dump, how can I use it to flash a v212 or even v210?

Unfortunately, Viewsonic said they do not have ROM update (update or update tool? ambiguous intentionally?).

Fortunately, I made it! Now, the other v212 works normally.

congrats did you describe it anywhere how you did it ?

No. I'll keep it myself for now.

so did you find a way to update/change the system? I've got a couple of Pocket PC apps I'd like to see work on my v212.

I couldn't change the ROM but managed to change the settings after loading image from ROM. Making PPC programs run on v212 may require some tweaking/hacking if they are not designed for CE 5.0.

I would expect nearly every ARM Pocket PC 2000 or 2003 program to work, as well as most programs for Windows Mobile 2003. Many will require some additional DLLs, though, such as Pocket PC versions of mfcce300.dll, doclist.dll, olece300.dll, or gx.dll. Which programs did you have in mind?

No, he didn't - but maybe he'll be willing to share it with you privately.

I sold my last V212-002 a few days ago. I did help a member from Hong Kong to get his V212 working properly.

If anyone has any way to run some Pocket PC apps, I have a couple aimed at the 2003 and later platform, that I would like to use.
If it is just a matter of copying some DLLs from my Ipaq .....

In the meantime I am using the WinCE version of Softmaker Office and it works well.

Likewise I purchased the WinCE version of Foxit to view PDF files.
Demo version is at
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/index.php

I have the HPC version of iSilo and it works well.

These certainly help me to avoid iPad envy, ok maybe not avoid but at least combat it.
