Hmm - Must be a 'born again' Jornada 728!

Of course it is a born-again J728. I purchased it on e-bay just before Christmas and received it and poered it up on the 4th of January 2011. It looks pretty new to me, so I was wondering "how come"?
A few month ago I was reading that the HP obligations of keeping spare parts for Jornadas have come to an end
(after 7-8 years from the production stop
), consequently the spare units, kept for spares were brought on the market.
This explains why my unit looks as good as new, but does not explain the BOD.
Actually can somebody confirm that the displayed BOD on the Jornada is the date of powering up the unit by the user? I was expecting that at least for the normal production all units were submitted to functional tests, hence the BOD is the date of leaving the production line.
But what about my case? Did somebody replace anything on my unit and did not check it before selling?
I would be more inclined to say that a number of untested units were leaving the HP production line for being kept as spares, this seems more plausible. What do you think?
