Hi. I'm seriously considering purchasing this UMPC http://www.kintechsz.com/docs/products/detail.asp?id=160 . It runs Win Ce 5.0 with wifi , gps, and bluetooth. What I would like to know is if Win CE will allow me to connect to my cellphone as a modem via bluetooth. Basically, does Win Ce allow the dunn bluetooth profile? I currently use my cell phone with my desktop with no problems and hope to be able to do the same with the UMPC. Next, what type of orograms can be run on the CE platform? Can regular (phone) java apps and games be installed? Finally, the unit has a built in GPS chip however I'm sure I need to d/l maps and even a GPS program can someone confirm this? I am very new to win ce so I may be coming back to this forum quite often. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have read something about these E70 models, they have very limited BT stack, file transfer and headset profiles only, so you'll need to install another BT stack, then you probably will be able to connect cellphone.

As for soft, much software from Windows Mobile will run without much pain. Java machine can be also installed.

Yeap, it doesn'y have GPS soft, but it shouldn't be a big problem to install it.

I guess this means Microsoft doesn't support native bluetooth dunn profile in Win CE 5.0, is that right? Or is this something that 3rd party adds on to CE? I've done some reading regarding this and most of it involves some really technical steps. Exactly how difficult is this process involving rebuilding the os? Can it permanently damage the device?

Not having the ability to use my cell as bluetooth modem would really defeat the reason for me to purchase this unit. Nokia's N810, I know will work fine with my phone but....it seems the N810 doesn't support stereo bluetooth headphones.

As anyone using a windows ce 5.0 device been able to use the unit to tether it with cell phone modem and how did you get it work? thanks again.

Microsoft DOES provide some BT driver but it is difficult to get it working and it's not very functional.

No, no OS rebuilding is required to install new BT stack

But don't count on all this, hell knows how they realised BT chip there...

In the worst case you can try to connect your cellphone through USB, theoretically it's real but I haven't heard anything about DUN USB drivers for Windows CE...
