Does this upgrade require flash memory or a ROM replacement, or is it something that can be done on any HPC 3.0? What does the upgrade do?

You may be talking about this:

It's already in ROM on some H/PC Pro devices. Check Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System to see if the installed applications are version 3.0 or 3.01 (not 3.1). See this page for more details:

Bookworm, have a look at H/PC:Update. You'll find all formal software updates for the device in there.

Thanks, that has almost everything I need. MicroSoft still has the Plus! and Power Toys downloads, so all I need are the CE Services CD(?) original IBM CD, and Entertainment Pack.

I don't want much, do I?

Why do you need the original CE Services CD?

You can get Plus and PowerToys from the download centre here, and if you search the download centre for "ISO" you may find something of interest (be it the 2.00 version)

I like to have a more permanent copy of my software, just in case some idiot (who, me?) messes with the system and crashes it.
