I just got one of these in the mail today. It looks just like all the other CE 5/6 netbooks we've been talking about here lately, except with a mini-USB port in the rear - like Dana's CE 6 netbook, only the e-Go runs CE 5. (Similar specs too - 533 MHz ARM926, 128 MB RAM, 2 GB flash.) It is synchronizable via ActiveSync - it synched as soon as I connected it to the PC through this port. However, it only syncs files, as the PIM databases are missing. (I tried "restoring" the PIM databases from another device using EzBackup, but they won't sync with the PC, and they disappeared again after rebooting.)

More strangely, there doesn't appear to be a dedicated folder for the flash ROM. (There is a folder named "Trusted," but I don't know what that's supposed to be for. And even the \Windows folder is not visible in the CE Explorer, though it is visible in Total Commander.) So far, though, it's retaining what I've copied to at least the \Program Files and \Trusted folders, as well as shortcuts created in \Windows\Programs, after reboot.

More testing pending. I wonder if there's a way to make the PIM databases permanent after restoring them from another device - and if there's a way to tell the device to sync them with the PC as well.

I've succeeded in getting it to sync TecAce cePIMS (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks) with the PC, but only after entering the required registry keys manually. Again, though, it clears the TecAce PIM databases when powered off, so basically I have to resync each time I turn it on.

This sounds promising. From whom did you buy, CE Geek?

Hey, and if anybody's interested in a bundled collection of 2000 Augen e-Go's, it'll only set you back $200,000:

A deal for those worried about enough backup devices

Jake

edit: CE Geek, which software came installed?

The new slider/MID CE 6 device i got recently is set up like that, has that trusted folder, software installs and stays, and doesnt have a "nand flash" folder or anything that looks like it would be.

It does however see everything just fine in ce explorer windows, etc.

what it doesn't do is be recognized by any of my pc's for sync (does have a specified usb slave sync port, even labled that way in white writing on the device), just says its a ce 6 device and doesn't have a driver for it.

Do any of the netbooks have user replaceable batteries or are they all internal?

Well I mean like with a laptop...not through disassembly. The Samsung Tiny Book has an internal battery that is not accessible by the user from what I read....

You just remove the battery cover and unplug the battery, Rich - how much easier do you need it to be?

I was sooo tempted to bid on that one. Glad I didn't - hate for us HPC:Factor folks to step on each others' toes.
