So, since SKyfire works on CE6, and Skyfire has Flash support without a plugin....it plays Youtube videos and other multimedia content!? So this basically ups the value of the Chinese Netbooks!!!?? If so, this is big news that needs to go out all over the ARM-based earth.

I managed to get skyfire running on my augen ce 5.0.

It has many nice features, fast, full falsh 10 support, more sites compatibility then IE and opera.

The only fault is that the carachters of the pages are not well readable> to see them well you have to increase the resolution.

Is it a common problem of this bowser or only my bad experience?

It's because there is no 800x480 resolution version of skyfire. It's meant for phones/pda's which generally have a 320x res or 472x res. On an 800x res device skyfire is stretched and not scaled properly making the font look horrible.

Cheers.

This may help...

Looks like someone has made some earlier versions of skyfire that work on some versions CE and they also have a nonSIP version that may help us get something running.

Now I'm wondering if I should get one of the CE 5.0 models, since the GPSPassion site seems to indicate that their 1.5 (800x480 support) only runs on 5.0! However, it also looks like 128MB Ram is imperative for that one.

Now I managed also to get 1.5 version working on the augen.

The browser starts and seems to connect to the web, but most of the time doesn't terminate to load the pages.

I dunno if is an augen memory issue (it has only 74 mb of avaliable ram and not 128) or if the same problem appears also on a 269 mb tinybook

Can't think memory is that much of an issue... My phone has a lot less available memory than 128Mb (in fact probs less than 64mb) and skyfire 1.5 runs fine on it.

here is the skyfire 1.5 version for ce.
http://rapidshare.com/files/322760682/Skyfire_1.5.0.15020_for_WindowsCE.rar

To get it working on a augen or i think other ce netbook is very simple though i cannot speak here about.

This version does not have the fonts problem but on augen take 4 or 5 minutes to load a single page.

i would like to know if it woks well in a device with more ram avaliable like a tinybook.

Can someone give a try?

It worth a chance because the bowser itslef is really amazing.

I am trying to get Skyfire working on CE Net 4.2 (Psion Netbook pro) and need some help guys.

I have used two release as test, 1.5 and 0.9 and both given the same error.

When I execheck them I have to change OS version and till now no problem.

Then Execheck says that aygshell and coredll don't export some dll functions.

I rewrite aygshell library name with the one installed by Redgear (_ygshell) and error disappear.

Then, I put coredl5 from cmonex package inside Skyfire folder, change name and the error now is that coredl5 can't export its linked function.

The others dll inside Skyfire folder are reported with 4.2 OS version and no error even though in library name it is reported coredll.

Not sure if it will work in the end, but there is no harm in trying.

If you guys caould help it would a great result have it running on CE 4.2!!!

means a library that the coredll you are using is likely missing a linked file or a function in a linked file. execheck the ce5 coredll and see what it reports.
