Did HPC:Factor get any exclusive Softmaker info on DataMaker? Their SM Office anywhere claims it is under development, but I was wondering if there was a projected schedule and if it would support the HPC platform--at all--but particularly the HPC2000 SA variety. ;+)

Curiously,

There are two DataMaker releases, the first is an old applications available only through SoftMaker DE, called DataMaker 99. This is a retired program.

The SoftMaker team are looking to revise DataMaker, and have been working on this for a year or two.
It will be an ODBC/ADO database front end for relational databasing - so targeting MS Access as an office productivity module. It will be designed to circumvent the VBA programming and SQL programming knowledge to make use of Access to it's fullest. It will include form and reporting capabilities, so if there is to be a H/PC release, it will clean blow Pocket Access out of the water.

With regards to that, SoftMaker are only committing to a mainstream Windows release at this stage. Everything else is still on the table, but nothing has been decided.
As ever, if you want to try and convince them that a H/PC port is a good idea, SoftMaker always like to hear from you with your ideas, views and dedication for the H/PC.

Chris brings up a good point here. When Textmaker was being debated by Softmaker as a H/PC release, we made a dedicated effort here in the forums to encourage you to write them and let them know you wanted it.

I would encourage you do do the same here on any of their applications. Let them know you are interested... then follow up with the Visa or Master Card when it is released. Like it or not, for developers, $$$'s speak volumes.
